Hello everyone! Long-time lurker, finally getting ready to build out my garage. Been a long time coming and have definitely learned a lot from just siphoning off the knowledge between all the discussions here.
I have a tandem garage, about 550 sqft. A little oddlly shaped -- I've attached a sketch of my plans
I was initially going to do an epoxy or polyurea coating but as I am starting to go through the prep, it seems that tile might actually work better for my situation. Can't move everything out of the garage at once, plus no truck or anything for renting the floor maintainer
Anyway, I think I've settled on tile -- either RaceDeck or GarageDeck/Trac. I only have one car and a motorcycle, so I think just the back side of the garage will be sufficient. I was thinking of leaving the front uncovered since it's not really used for parking.
In the event someone does park there, I was thinking maybe getting a mat or something. This would also let me use the front to do waterless (kinda) washes of my car and moto and then just flushing everything out with a hose. Any issues or input to this approach?
I could also extend the tiles to the front sometime in the future. This seems like a good, flexible plan.
The checkerboard is where I plan to install closed tiles. The brown area is where I plan to locate my workbench. I assume this is a good candidate for some anti fatigue stuff -- e.g. ShockTower? How do those work? Are they aftermarket inserts into the regular RD tiles? Would they be compatible with the GarageDeck tiles?
This is for a general use residential garage -- some work on my moto and car (brakes, forks, etc), as well as some light work for home remodeling. This is also in the SF Bay Area so snow is not an issue, and it only really rains a few weeks (if that, unfortunately) a year.
