Tank volume of compressor

Morning all,

I just purchased a large used Kellogg-American air compressor. It is in great shape and runs flawlessly. All the info is on the metal tag on the tank except tank size. How can I figure that out? Also, where can I get specific info on the pump as well?

Lastly, being the new owner, what should I do to ensure the tank and pump live a long life in my hands? I know the pump has new oil in it, however I am not sure what type or weight goes in it or at what interval. Also On my old Sears 20 gallon, I put a water or moisture trap on the output. Any recommendations for a type of trap for this one and where to obtain?

Thanks for your help and time.

Sid

I understand and agree. My apologies, its just I am away visiting and away from the compressor. So pictures are not possible. I am just trying to learn more about it and quite possibly obtain some literature on it as well. I will post some pics later tonight when I get home and maybe you all can help me further then.

Thanks

Sid

recently I called the service line for my compressor as I wasn't sure of the oil to use but remembered it as being 30wgt non-detergent. They confirmed this but said not automotive, that it was to be a synthetic blend 30wgt non detergent and NAPA would have it, ask for compressor oil. I can't really believe that all the old compressors around have syn-blend oil in them or that it has been available that long- don't recall it 15 years ago when I got this one or years before for the previous one. I might just stay with regular old non-detergent 30wgt. D

Hydraulic oil would work very well in that compressor. ISO 68 is what you need. You can usually find hydraulic oil at a tractor supply store or many auto part stores Carry it.
If you live where it gets below 40* in the winter then use ISO46. 68 does not splash well at temps below that.
