Figured this was a reasonable place for this since it will heat as well. We remodeled 3 years ago, total gut inside. Installed 2 Navien tankless water heaters, condensing with recirculator. All seemed well until Saturday night when my wife was showering, heard a loud noise and water went cold. I looked at it that next day and the shield over the bottom of the heat exchanger was in pieces in the bottom of the cabinet. I got a repairman that really understood these things fortunately. It took him about a minute to determine that they were never converted from natural gas to LP. The remaining one was quickly converted but the one that blew needs a whole new heat exchanger unit, at my cost of course. The original installer had a heart attack in the middle of out job and another plumber finished it. New guy didn't know they hadn't been converted yet.
