Hello everyone, I'm close to installing a tankless water heater and see so many different isolation valve kits available. Any one here have any advice of what to look for? The kits range from about 60 to 150 dollars. I see difference in type of material, valve handles, their positions and of course flow rate.

I'm sure most all of them fit and work but anyone here have any recommendation which one to go to?

After the cost of the heater the valve kit is somewhat minor, I just prefer reliability and flushing ease.

Thank in advance

Sawyer

Buy the brand that your heater brand sells, as you know it will fit. As you say, not worth saving $50 here.

Most of the modelsRinnai sells come with the iso valve kit in the box. Not all, so check. Can’t advise on make, but make sure it a full port valve and make sure you use them. Down the road, they make service so much easier.

Thanks - Pcustoms for the smack in the head moment. Just added the recommended valve kit to the order. For the small difference in pricing why drive myself crazy and over thinking it. At least it is their proven fit once and be done kit.

Jackfre wish they were included but maybe to make the tankless unit itself seem more reasonably priced or cheaper to package/shipm and let the pro installer (if used) add it to their profit line?

wsslx99 First I saw one of those, always thought of needing something like for my wall mounted whole house filter.

This place is great thank you all.

It's nice for the flushing and cleaning that needs to be done every year, but there are a number of valves and other bits inside that eventually fail. When some of them do... a waterfall can ensue from the bottom of the unit. My Navien does this much more frequently than I would have expected or would like, but it seems that they address this kind of thing with each subsequent model. (I'm earlier on the learning curve for one of their product families.)

No problem. I did the same thing a few years back and finally just bought the rinnai setup. All the ports and valves operate with 0 interference.

That drain pan is interesting, but I just hook a few short hoses to mine. I use the same hose and a small pump to cycle vinegar through annually.

Having a drain pan would be nice for filter changes though!
