I'm looking at a Tap and Die set I have the gearwrench set and it only goes up to 1/2. I'm looking for something bigger SAE and MM can start at 1/2" 13MM and up from there any thought experiences.

For what I do the sets that run up to 1/2" always worked for me. Whenever I need the odd larger size I grab them individually on Ebay. There's a guy that sells US made taps and dies on there for about $5 shipped. Just my $.02

In sizes over 12mm, you are better off buying a taper and bottoming for each size you use, upto whatever you think you will need or want.
I have Metric upto 24, and Whitworth up to 1" with the 3 cuts of each, but in UNC and UNF only intermediate, that may be the way to go for size you won't often require.

I agree - depends on your need. I often use up to 1/2. While I have larger sets, I have practically never used them except for pipe threads. If it is not a major need, I suggest, keep your eyes open at the flea market.

Well I'm an AG and construction equipment tech so it's kinda go big or go home. I've got some larger individual Die and they were 45 bucks a piece but that's cause I needed it then and there and I didn't have chance to shop around. I do love my gear wrench set I didn't know that they made anything that size.
