I must not be very good with the search tool because I am sure this has been shown but I cant find it.

looking for a way to organize taps and Dies thought about buying the trays from enco, but wanted to see what everyone els is doing.

lets see links and photos of different ways to sort and store taps & Dies.

Mine are in the original manufacturer's box they arrived in. Most sets come in a nice storage box that makes them safe from loss and easy to find.

X2. Even the box on the cheap ones will last quite a while. If the box does fail I'd say get some plywood and forstner bits and make you one from wood. I think that all of mine are under 1" thick and tend to take up a drawer in my Kennedy box.

I also keep my sets in the index boxes they came in, but the loose one have a home here. That divider is cardboard.

If I do not have the box that the tap came in, I have lined my "tap drawer" with some 1/8 thick felt that the taps sit on. Of course this is after I wrap the tap with elec tap.

And with all those taps bumping against one another they will become blunt before you know it.:shocking:

Doubt it! Those boxes reside in a drawer that sees little movement.......not bouncing around in the back of some truck. Been like that for more than forty years and it ain't happened yet.

I have a few sets of common sizes that stay in the original box. Odd sizes, doubles, and broken (aka waiting to be reground) taps go into a cheap Cman top box along with the small end of my collection of MT drills and reamers. Its ugly but serves the purpose.
