Tap handles

Picked up these old UK made tap handles. Couple of Eclipse, Moore&Wright and two just stamped "G".
Are these any good?

I would call them Tap Wrenches

Yes, both the Eclipse and the Moore and Wright are excellent quality tools.

They are both “English pattern” tap wrenches, which are quite rugged for their size.

Moore and Wright no longer make tap wrenches. and Eclipse don’t make them to this quality any more,

The larger Eclipse would be quite desirable.

I tried to buy an e240 and e241 and after a 2mo wait zoro said they were unavailable and canceled the order. I also found an E242 on Amazon and it came in a couple weeks. (So I'm still looking for an E240 and E241. I could just buy a starter, but I just can't. Justify 60 bucks for a the smallest of them. Maybe I'll just make some clones. ) It seems to be of good quality. Made of sufficiently hardened and tempered metal and came in a plastic box much like a rap or a drill would which is nice for storage. Im told that it pales in comparison to the old ones. I'm curious if this is really true, or if it's just old tool nostalgia. If it is... damn... The old ones must be sobwhing elee and then some. Or is it a quality control issue and I just got lucky and got a good one?

Yes, it’s true, the new ones are a pale imitation of the originals.

The quality of the steel on the originals was better, as was the machining, and the finishing.

The design was one of the best, and after machining the holes were broached for accuracy, before hardening.

There have been other companies that have manufactured the same pattern (Picador come to mind), but none have matched the quality of the originals.

The current Eclipse is not even made to the same pattern, let alone the same quality.
