Taping off transition

Need some help, when taping off the transition between the garage and the garage door do you reapply the tape after each coat. As an example I will be laying down a primer, base coat with full fleck and then 3 top coats. Do I just apply tape, apply the primer, pull tape. And then start this same process over again for each subsequent coat. My original plan was to just lay down 5 layers of tape and just keep pulling them up after each coat, I'm just thinking this over and guessing that might not work.

That's how I've always done it! Let the coat gel then pull it. Don't wait long. You will know when, It's really that easy. Don't stack it!
