Taunton 2009 Tool Guide!!

I just took a look at Taunton's 2009 Tool Guide, and it's a nice read thus far. I was slightly disappointed with the 2008 version since a few features slightly overlapped with several 2007 features.

Magazines are starting to roll into retail stores, so keep your eyes open. I believe Lowes offers a 10% discount on periodicals...

When I have a chance to read a bit more, I'm going to hit up the drill bit reviews, as well as the paint spray info and reviews.

Final note, keep in mind that this special issue is published by a wood working magazine. I'm not a wood worker, but I've learned quite a bit from the past two annual issues.

I love flipping through these. They have good reviews and good tests to check performance, fit and finish, etc. When it comes to woodworking, they know what's good. I have quite a few of their books as well, very informative.

I have to agree with you there. One of the better reviews in the 2007 or 2008 edition showed the difference (via plastic scuff test) between a good random orbital sander (bosch) and a bad one (craftsman). That was one of the reviews I benefited most from.

It has been a couple years since I picked one up - mainly because year to year there is a certain amount of overlap. Might be time to pick up a new copy.

Curious what they have to say about 1/4" narrow crown staplers. I bought a PC NS150A even though they have an 'updated' version of NS150B. Main reason for this is the 150B is supposed to be 'oilless' and given people's experience with oiless compressors didn't want to risk it. Every other air tool I have requires oil & I don't want to get one that would be ruined if I added oil out of habit before using.

I picked it up at Costco the other night. 30% off the cover price is nice. It didn't seem like too much overlap from the last two years issues.
