Hi guys,
So I did an introduction page but know whether I could post my progress in there or not. So I started a new thread.

The garage is a 24x24 with one overhead door and one man door. The previous owner of the house had it built in June of 06. She was an older lady and only used it for her car. Nothing was in the garage when we moved in. It was a blank slate. The concrete has a couple minor cracks. And the bottom plate needs to be caulked to make a tight seal. (we have a handful of crickets that I share the space with)

After looking at alot of builds on here, I knew mine wouldn't compare to most of them. I don't have the time or the money to make it wonderful. But I want it to be a comfortable place to be. With motocross in the spring and summer. I'm in the garage alot working on the bike. And do my rebuilds in the winter so I want some type of climate control.

So I was going to make a trip to menards to get some supplies and asked my dad if he needed anything since it's kind of a far drive. He drops off a list and his credit card and said he would pay for some of my insulation. Awesome! Well his list was pretty big and I have a short bed crew cab truck. So it was a tight squeeze. 20 sheets of drywall, 6 Batts of r13, 8 rolls of r19 23w, and a box of baffles.

I want to keep my attic open, I know I will sacrifice heat loss but I have well over 1000 decoys I store up there. So I need the access to get bags of 10-20 decoys down. So I got the baffles like you would put in a cathedral style ceiling.

This will be slow and pretty simplistic, but I would like a place to keep track and get opinions and ideas from others.

Here's what I have done so far, pardon the mess.

That's my helper bear, she doesn't help much. Usually just lays in front of the fan.

Great start to your build. Insulation is a very important thing, because if its too cold you don't have fun. Just one question, does the overlap of the trays start at the top so that the drip stays on the tray?

nice start.
And Terrick is correct, they should start at the top and run into the next tray so any moisture is carried all the way down and not dripping on you or your project.

Luckily the side that the picture was taken on were the only ones done backward. I redid that side today and got some insulation up. The baffles on the west side (not pictured) I ran the correct way. Towards the end of the day I was wiped out and just lost my thought process I suppose.
I made a little progress today, got some of the insulation on the roof put up. But had to stop short due to having to make supper.

I've got a question, that I'm getting conflicting answers on the interweb. I will be installing a ridgevent this week. The builder installed Soffits along both eaves but no other venting . Will that be enough to vent out the warm air trapped in the garage? Or is there another type of vent I should install?

I was thinking something along those lines, but I wasn't sure if that would affect the ridge vents purpose.

Another question, is air inlets. Should I put some foundation vents in to bring outside air in during the summer months? I'm just not sure of how I will get cooler outside air in during the summer.

If you have a ridge vent you should have vents in the soffit that will pull the air in the soffit and the air will exit out the ridge vent.

Correct, the soffits have vents. But with the cathedral style ceiling those vents mainly are for just provide airflow under the roof sheathing and not really coming into the garage at all. So my only air intake is one small window on the south side. I'm thinking about putting another window in the west wall. But then that will be in the sun most of the day.

All the insulation is finally done. 7 days for 5 hours each night after work. But I got it.
