Hey,

Can you comment on any noise the floor makes? I didn't see any comments as such above. I'm curious about how much clickity-clack noise the tiles make.

Well with the help of Adam, Leslie, Cindy and two construction workers...we were able to lift into place the final two pieces of the cabinets.

The following cabinets shown have adjustable shelving.

The bottom cabinet has roll out shelving.

Thanks again and I will post up picks of the garage, once it get organized, my Craftsman tool box gets emptied and our two cars get to park inside again. Hope to get this completed this month.

Oh yeah - incase any one is wondering, YES the top and bottom cabinets are bolted together. I also will be anchoring the bottom to the concrete flooring.

Lookin' great. I love that Lista stuff.

Have you done any damage to your Race Deck yet installing all this stuff?

The only damage, is at the beginning of the garage, where I have the Race Deck Edging...some of it were scratched, when dragging the pallets over from the driveway to the garage's surface. Nothing major...all other surfaces no issues.

That's good to hear. At least it is something very easy to replace. Much better than a tile in the middle of the floor.

Thanks - - as for the Jack -- bud I already have the 13HLQ for the past 5 odd years!

I am looking for a heavier duty version like the 20Q to replace a old floor jack my father in-law passed down to me, after he passed away many years ago.

True -- but even if it was in the middle - to replace it would be a minor itch. :lol_hitti

Great set up - but - Are you gonna have enough room to move around with those cabinets and mobile bench? Looks kinda tight. Can't wait to see it all sorted out!

The layout below is an old version of my vision.
The work table is 60Lx30D, the mobile cabinet is 44 3/8L x 28.5D, then the cabinet across from the table and mobile was changed to the DW series (56.5L x28.5D).

I would move the mobile cabinet, if I need to gain access to the end of my work bench, plus with the standard cabinets against the wall, I will be able to store my spare parts and tools. I should have enough room...wish I had more head room! :lol_hitti

Not really...slowly been placing stuff into the cabinets.
Mounted the new butcherblock table top on my old work bench.
That's it so far.

Not much has happened on clearing out the garage of the boxes that we unloaded from the Pack-Rat. One of the bedrooms is being converted into a Craft/Office Room with new cabinets. So all the stuff that goes into there is still in the garage and my two Bimmers are out on the driveway.

Here is the current project in the home...
The cabinets will be distressed look.
Note I am not doing this most excellent work.

Anyways back to the garage, not sure if I mentioned this, but when I had removed the packaging from my Mobile Cabinet, I noticed a dent at the corner.

LISTA090620082.jpg

LISTA09062008.jpg

It did not affect the function of the drawers or lock.
But I called Tool Boxes and more.com, whom I purchased the LISTA Cabinets from, and they said they will order a replacement and schedule a pick up/delivery.

If you do get stuff from them, both Charles and Leslie are great in communications and answering questions.

WOW! I was impressed - what customer service.
Well...about 1-month later...new cabinet delivered, damaged cabinet removed!

It is now ready to accept my tools from my ol' Craftsman box.
Hope to get started on it this weekend.
Still have to wait for the tool organizers - - placed on my Christmas wish list.

That's it for now...still need to empty the garage of the boxes....soon soon...

Really good job man, looking forward to some more updates. What is the name of the colour that you have on the walls?

The garage is a cream color with a white ceiling.
I have been working on emptying the storage boxes and placing them in the new cabinets.
Still have few left to do...about 8 left....not too bad.
I should be done by the end of the month or less.

The craft/office room has been painted it's final color (Wedgewood blue wall and cream ceiling).
We were looking at the color and now we are thinking of painting the ceiling white.
The lighting of the room and window, gives the color a different look.
We just need to wait until the flooring is completed in that room.

Man! Your place is really coming along, I love the blue storage cabinets.
So are you going to be able to squeeze the taco in there, when you SAS? :D
What's the first big tool to be installed?

SAS the Taco...nope :(
Not enough garage height - -only 100" +/-2"
So my thoughts of a lift is on hold -- for now.
To install a good lift, I need to get an architect to redesign the rafters to redistribute the weight of the roof.
Right now...the plan is to use the keep both the Taco, the 330i and Z3.
And look to get a dedicated trail rig (not a DD) that I can drive from the house to the trails.
Thinking of a ol' 40, that is already semi built. ..that way I can still personalize it.
I would keep it outside (both BMWs would be garaged) and covered.
That way I can get one that is old enough to be classified as a classic and get insurance for driving less than 3000 miles.

As my first big tool...it was my mitersaw from DeWalt on a mobile stand.
Already used it to modify the fence to include a door to the dry creek bed in back.
DeWaltDeltaMiterSawStand2.jpg

I also will be using it when we start installing crown molding in the home - next year.
For now that is the largest purchase that I will do for power tools.
I first need to get my stuff organized and finish up getting some more hand tools that I have been looking at.

edit - the 100" is INSIDE...not the garage door height.
So if I had a rig taller, I would have to remove the wheels and roll the junk in on car rollers...hummm....honey, I just remembered I need something else! ;)

Nice saw!

A FJ40 would be a nice trail rig. The Taco holds it's own as a IFS rig.

When you built the house, did you have the option of a high ceiling in the garage? Obviously it would have been more expensive.

Oh! Your taco and garage build are book marked.;)

Thanks for bookmarking my thread.
As to your question: No option for higher ceilings...but they had options (if my land was wider), for a side garge or even 1/2 sized side garage. Now that would have been perfect...
Option for 4-car garage with high ceilings!

You know, the lot next to our house is still not sold....it has a very deep drop off.

My neighbor and I have asked the builders, if they do not sell the land, we would love to split it and buy it from them.
They responded they can not sell the land without a house on it -- yet.
Well, we shall see if no one buys the lot after a few years....maybe they would reconsider...now if that happens..."hello bank, I need a loan please"....:bounce:

Okay, my wife's garage

As expected, the new home was under new construction....

Cindy wanted to convert one of our bed rooms into a craftroom for her stuff.
So it is really what she considers her garage.
:lol_hitti

So we hired someone to do the work for this part of the project.

In our old house, I installed shelves and a simple work stations for her.
BraunRunCraftRoom.jpg

As you can see, it filled up real quickly!

Carpet was removed, cabinets were all custom built and custom finished.
Cabinets up and finishing started.

Swing up work space for Cindy to layout fabric...when she sews.

I am thinking of modifying it, to be a pull out, instead of a swing up.
To add knee and leg room underneath, so Cindy could sit closer to the tabletop.

Hidden ironing board.

Now it's my turn...the walk-in closet for that room.

This is what I drew up for additional shelving.

The day after I finished the 2nd coat of paint, Cindy started filling up all the shelves!....and now she says we need to convert another closet in the workout room....

I told her I will think on it. ;)

Overall I know that after seeing the cabinets installed, I could have done that work, by purchasing from a cabinet supplier (unfinished) and then hired the someone to do the finishing and tile work.
Could have save me some :2cents:.

The cost for the walk-in closet make over was around $150 (paint and materials), it took me a total of 4-days at 8 to 10 hrs per day to finish it off. Exactly the amount of time I estimated to Cindy.

Thanks!
Next is to complete my garage build (lights, computer center, etc)...now that most of the living space is done and decorated....finally.

Second will be the home theater room, but it is empty...no character.
I will be designing & plan to do the build myself, either later this year or next.

Okay...it has been A LONG TIME since I had worked on organizing, building anything in my garage, most if not all the time and money spent on decorating and organizing the inside of the home. I finally was able to design, build my computer workstation for the garage.
I was able to reuse the wood I built our son's skateboard grind ramp, old workbench's table top and a pull out keyboard drawer that was designated for the craft room (but in the end we did not install it). So I did not need to buy anything new! Money saved....it's about damn time!

Here is the rough design.

Underneath is the all important beverage cooler and file cabinet, that will house owner manuals, instructions, etc.

The chair you see will not be use, I will get a tall work stool to sit on, while working on the computer. The computer will be used for searching for details on any work I do on my cars or truck. Only thing missing is a printer.

Still have lots to do on emptying boxes and figuring out where to place some other stuff that I want to purchase this year.

Time to update this thread - well last month, I finally organized the garage enough to pull in my little Z3 for some long needed attention.
IMG_0001-1.jpg

A couple weeks later - after traveling into Mexico.
I placed her onto stands and started my major maintenance work on her.
Fluids, brakes, suspension, bushings, etc.
IMG_2265.jpg

While I am working on my car, I still working to 5-S my stuff.
Just ordered a small parts drawer system (similar to Durhams) and a wire management wall unit. Should arrive in a week or so.
