Does anyone have experience with the tekton 13001 socket set? I don't really need it but would like a cased 1/4 set to grab for quick repairs & this one seems to fit the bill. I've never had any tekton tools but from what I've read they seem decent. I think the main thing I'm wondering is how good the 72t ratchet is.

72T ratchet is the same as Kobalt, Pittsburgh Pro, Ez Red, etc. Low backdrag, high strenght and a pleasure to use. Wonderful ratchet. The tekton set will be great for quick repairs

I have the Pittsburgh pro at work & do enjoy using it. I'm a little iffy on quick release ratchets but I guess it's worth a shot.

I have ten of the Tekton 72 tooth Ratchets...

They're all well worth the money...

I'd buy them again...

Real Tool Reviews has a quick look at the different Tekton socket sets. Pretty decent ratchet that is identical to the one branded under Pittsburgh Pro, reportedly manufactured by Rotar Group. Their per-drive sets are very complete and the finish on the hand sockets is really nice for the money. The 13001 set is at a historic low on Amazon right now but maybe that's why you're asking? :)

Tell you what, if I needed a 1/4" set for around the house and quick repairs this set would be at the top of my list. Good price, lifetime warranty, and Tekton customer service gets great reviews. Throw in 1/4" bits of your choice to finish off the set...

Not sure what else you need to make a decision

I've got the 3/8 drive Tekton set and have found it to be great. I keep it in my laundry room next to my "house" tool bag and find myself reaching for it all the time. The finish on the tools is awesome and they've performed well on everything that I've put them through. Brakes, an alternator, AC compressor and various other tasks. I'd not hesitate to purchase the 1/4 drive set if I were in the market for one. The customer service IS great. My set came with the detent ball missing from the swivel joint, one e-mail and it showed at my house 2 days later. Spoke with Dave who is a member on the site and was taken really good care of.

I don't have this set but I do have several sets of tekton impact sockets plus some other non impact sets. no issues with what I have at all. very good quality IMO. and yes, their customer service is top notch.

I have that set and the fit and finish is flawless. My only dislike is that the reversing lever is the opposit of my snapon and craftsman.

Just ordered it. Home Depot had it for the same price as amazon with free shipping to the store. It'll be nice not to have to walk out to the shed, grab a ratchet, a rail of sockets & some extensions any time I need to change a filter or put something together. Plus I really like the space for bits or whatever.

It is $28 through Amazon. If you sign up for the Amazon Visa you immediately get a $30 gift card toward first purchase, ends up being less than free.

It's so tempting to just pick up the mixed-length 1/4" and 3/8" sets for a good trunk kit; together they would come to $56 with the recent price drop and Amazon's $10 off $50 in Tekton promo.

Does anyone know if the bit adapter in the 1/4" drive set is magnetic or uses a spring clip?

I have that 1/4 set as well as the similar 3/8 set, both purchased from Amazon. The only complaint I have is that the size markings on the sockets are kinda small and hard to read.

Just got it today. Fit & finish are impressive. So is the case. I didn't notice it was hinged in pics or reviews but that's definitely a nice touch. Little more backdrag than the hf pro. An excellent set for the price. I had my eye on the similar gearwrench set for a while but found it difficult to justify $70 for a set I don't "need"
