I was wondering if anyone has and uses this torque wrench. I never have used one and this is within my budget. My local Lowe's has it for under $50. Or should I shop around and find something better. Just using for tires and some front end work. Thanks, Ken

I bought this torque wrench as a cheap alternative to the big name tool brands, but still better quality than Harbor Freight.

It works very well, however just like with any other 1/2" torque wrench, I wouldn't trust it down on the low end of the scale (10ft/lbs area).

Just my .02

What makes you think it's any better then the $10 HF torque wrench? (IMHO Tekton tools usually seem like HF lookalikes but at higher prices.)

I'd either buy a PI or shop some HD's and look for one of the Husky torque wrenches made in the USA by Armstrong for around $85. They're quickly being depleted though. (plain black handle and made in the USA on the package).

;)I have the Tekton and the Harbor Freight torque wrenches (1/4",3/8",1/2"). They have been used professionally in a small engine shop for the last 6 years. So far they have held up very well and have kept calibrated. They do not see heavy use so I cannot comment on anything but moderate use. As far as quality, I do not see a difference between the two brands. P.S.- The auto mechanics in the next stall borrow them often as they cannot afford to buy there own after paying $600 for one larger Snap On torque wrench.

I have this one (and an inch-lb Tekton) and have been really happy with both. I use it for anything 40 lbs. and up. Under that I use my CDI 10-100 wrench just to stay closer to the middle of the range. Tested the Tekton when I got it and it was well within spec but you can easily fine tune them more. Customer service from Tekton is fantastic also. I picked mine up from Amazon for $39 with free shipping. I have to disagree with the HF comparison. Neighbor has the HF stuff and we tested it and it was over 10% off. Not that everything HF has is bad but I just wouldn't trust a torque wrench that sells for less than a decent ratchet.
