I saw this on a Facebook group so take that for what it is but I’m guessing they are clearing out for good which ***** because I honestly don’t think I would have bought half the tools from them if I hadn’t felt the quality in person
i think this is correct. they are gone-gone now.
meijer/tekton has been half off for a number of years at christmas and it usually gets mostly ransacked and gradually re-stocked with a total product reset about this time. as noted by others, the selection was thinned significantly at all stores in january of '20.
this year it is all gone in nearly every store here and the reset looks like it aint coming. in fact i think a lot of the stuff that disappeared in slower stores may have been RTV'd
there is still a trivial amount of 3M stuff and stanley boxed sets, which i believe they have carried for a few years. b&d, dremel, old skil (bosch), apollo, and whatever el cheapo stuff they carried all disappeared en masse. i found some recent 60-75-90% tags for the brands that disappeared, but it was all trivial extras and what appeared to be damaged packages and/or returns
i would guess new skil is coming. maybe stanley hand tools similar to the small 2020 skil lineup. maybe new craftsman?
they could sell dewalt there if they tried. throwing tools in a back aisle with a sign that says 'tools' and occasionally running a sale in the flyer aint really trying tho... the people i have seen buyin tools at meijer over the years are all 'bang for buck' deal hunters or ppl who know meijer deals well enough. NEVER any newbies, idiots, crafty women, or impulse buyers... those groups should be their cash cows, but they dont get a dime off of them bc the tool aisle is buried and far away. they would need to throw an occasional tool table in the aisle between grocery and general merch. youre welcome meijer. free mktg advice.
ammo cases totally disappeared in some stores here in 2020. other stores kept the case but cleared it empty without even a sign but if you asked they said 'ammo by request only' but the employee had no clue on grain, caliber, brand, price... total waste of time.
pistol ammo has been gone for a couple years
then the riots/fear/election this year cleared everything and now theres only birdshot if anything...
im sure steak knives and tent stakes are next
