Tekton and Meijer

Is Tekton being phased out at Meijer? They had a huge sale before Christmas and haven’t restocked since. There are more empty SKU’s than there are occupied. I’d like to buy a few of the master socket sets and torque wrenches. The four locations near me in Cincinnati, Fairfield and Hamilton, OH are bone dry. I’m not interested in buying online, so please don’t suggest it. Any other brick and mortar stores that sell Tekton?

Sincerely, Frustrated Tool User

No help but I agree with you most are good but I like to touch tools in that price range before buying especially hand tools.

Who knows? If you really want to know, you can always ask the store manager the next time you shop there. The main selling point of Tekton to me over other brands selling similar tools is the online customer service.

The tekton display at the West Carrollton store looked like a tornado went through it.
Boxes open, loose sockets scattered everywhere, wrench sets missing wrenches.
Whole store looked bad.

I used to live in Springboro and would shop at the Meijer in West Carrollton on occasion. Sad that it’s the same story near Dayton.

I’d really like to know what’s going on.

The newer store up here in Cleveland is stocked pretty full. Just bought a loose P3 driver yesterday. And a pair of slip joints. All pegs pretty full

I got some stuff on the -40% sale. I checked once in January and it seemed like it was not tapped out. I will have to look again.

But you can buy direct from Tekton and they give you points-back for use on future purchases.

I wonder if the one in Middletown is similar.
And I'm really surprised other retailers haven't picked up the brand yet.
Maybe time will tell.

I forgot about the one in Middletown. I’m on vacation all next week so maybe I’ll take a road trip. Then again, it’s Middletown. They probably have the least amount of available stock of any Meijer in the area.

Three different farm/ranch supply type stores near me carry Tekton. You might give the ones close to you a quick phone call.

A couple of stores near me looked like that right before a major planogram reset and downsize. That was fall of last year.

I sincerely hope that isn’t the case here...

Just amazes me that I have money to spend and they don’t want to take it. Might just look into another brand.

Stopped by Meijer after work and bought one of the few socket sets that were available. It’s a 3-8” drive metric, 8-19mm, no skips on a twist lock rail. All I have to say is WOW. These are very nice sockets. The chrome is fantastic and they feel like excellent quality in the hand. I hope they restock more soon. I’d like to have all of the sets.

The one area that Tekton could improve upon with their sockets is adding knurling like certain Taiwanese manufacturers do for the big-brands.

That type of machining would likely raise the price pretty significantly. A much cheaper alternative would be roll stamp cross hatching.

Just a guess, but I doubt the partnership between Tekton and Meijer would dissolve anytime soon. Both companies are based in Grand Rapids, and Meijer is extremely committed to giving back to communities- at least in Michigan.

The Meijer stores near me can look like a tornado went through the Tekton areas on one day, and be completely reorganized the next. I believe it has to do more perhaps with the management of the individual stores, as the one in the next town over from me always has better stock and organization than the hometown one.

Just a guess based on observations, and I could be completely wrong as well.

Oh cool, I didn’t know that. My company has a branch in Grand Rapids and it’s the only one in the region I haven’t traveled to yet. I hope they continue their partnership. I really like these tools and would like to get more. Also hoping the new style screwdrivers show up there.

The Meijer stores around Indy are pretty well stocked with Tekton.
Two weeks ago, the Camby store was full of Tekton. I was there last night and the whole aisle was empty except for a few master sets laying on the bottom shelf. There's no way it sold out, they had to pull everything off the shelves for some reason. Hopefully it's temporary, as they are the best box store sockets around me.

I was in Florida when this thread originated. No Meijers there. Back home now so Sunday I wandered through the one closest to me and it was not well stocked at all.
