This week I ordered a screwdriver from M-C. I have ordered similar ones before and recieved Pratt and Reed. I was surprised to get a Tekton 1/4”x8” flat blade triangle handle. This hasn’t happened before. It was item #5682a82. I hope they expand the Tekton line. I buy tools for our shop and have Tekton triangle drivers in my home tools.

I think because tekton is one the last seller of US made screwdrivers, they're going to start showing up at more suppliers since Pratt Reed is no more.

Pratt Reed is no longer in business. If the model number is just a SKU, they always have the option of changing suppliers without changing the model number. I don't see any reason to buy Tekton tools from an industrial supply house unless you can get a discount that brings the price below buying directly from Tekton or Amazon.

Interesting. I was told by an Ideal customer support rep that they would still be selling screwdrivers via Mcmaster-Carr. I assumed they would be branded Ideal, but would otherwise be the same.

Makes me wonder if Ideal let the screwdriver tooling go with the SK deal. I've also heard rumors that Channellock screwdrivers will no longer be made by Ideal.

Your choices are tekton, Wilde or Williams if your an industrial supplier who snapon or matco won't deal with

Or Proto, Klein, Wright, Stanley…….. Stanley 100’s are very common in the industrial supplier world.

McMaster really tries to source USA made items. Because their primary customers are USA manufacturers. Granted, it's not always possible, but they really try.

U.S. made Stanley 100 Pluses were discontinued in 2015 now being made in Taiwan. Stanley still makes their basic "fluted" line and better vinyl grip line here albeit with foreign steel blades that are partially or fully manufactured here which sell for $13 and $16 respectively at HD. Great Neck also has screwdrivers with U.S. made handles with foreign steel blades that they make for Kobalt and Hyper Tough the only difference between them is that Kobalt has more sizes and has a lifetime warranty and the Hyper Tough has only a 5 year warranty. Great Neck sells under their own name at Auto Zone.

If you want Tekton, buy directly from Tekton. It will be cheaper than M-C, include free shipping, and give you bonus points for future purchases.

I buy direct from Tekton here and there, and he is correct - free shipping. The last time i just ordered 1 socket (to replace a missing one), and it shipped free - all my impact sockets are Tektons.

You get 10% back on purchases toward future purchases, but I think there's some kind of time limit (use it or lose it), but if there is, I think it's quite some time, like one year or something.

Are they the BEST? No, but they get the job done, and the quality is extremely good for the price on pretty much everything they do make. I would take their stuff over any HF equivalent.

The only reason to go to mcmaster here is if your doing corporate spend where vendors can be limited and it can be a pain to add new ones

I don’t know if was officially confirmed, but isn’t Wilde the manufacturer for Tekton screwdrivers?
Nope. Wilde is out of the screwdriver business. I believe they got theirs from Pratt-Read as well. They do have wood-handle screwdrivers, which I think are made by Grace.

I believe the Stanley cushion grip drivers may have also been made by Pratt-Read, and I think they have been discontinued. The Proto/Mac Duratek drivers are still made in the USA (last I heard, anyway). The 100-plus drivers are now made in Taiwan, but they are still very good.

Williams/Snap-on and Klein still make their drivers in the USA. Some of Klein's multi-bit drivers are Taiwan-sourced, or have Taiwan-sourced bits, etc, which seems to be common for pretty much all multi-bit drivers these days.

Enderes still makes some of their flip-shank (5-in-1) drivers in the USA.

Mayhew has some Torx screwdrivers that are made in the USA, and I hope they expand to a full lineup. They bought out Bestway a couple of years ago.

Wiha has some 6-in-1 and 11-in-1 drivers that are marketed as made in the USA, but only the handles are made here.

Great Neck makes Kobalt (acetate handle) and HyperTough screwdrivers in the US, using foreign and domestic parts. The Pep-Boys Great Neck screwdrivers are the same as the acetate Kobalt drivers. Great Neck's A, AA and G series drivers seem to be discontinued, and replaced with the orange handled ones, which I do not believe are made in USA.

Proto only claims that the handle is made in the US now. https://www.protoindustrial.com/en/...aTek™-19-Piece-Combination-Screwdriver-Set-/#

I know that they are made in France now, but I think that listing meant "HANDLE" as a heading because a few points down they have "SHANK."
Yes it does look like it to me as well. Also there is a US flag to the right that states "Made in the USA, with global materials" if you hover the mouse over it.
