I tried the Irwin version of the Kleins listed, absolutely hated them. Clunky and could not get them to work correctly....just my experience though.

Got the strippers last night, feel nice and first impressions good. Will put them to the work when I wire up a sander lighting next week. the design is nice and small, and do not need to look at it like the Ideal style.

Not to derail the thread but I’ve had these Klein auto adjusting strippers for years and they work great. $23

Mine came today. Boy am I not impressed, they’re real notchy about a 1/4 of the way into the stroke.
The little stopper knob refuses to stay tightened on mine,
but otherwise I'm very happy with the design & quality.
No ****, I cycled it maybe a half dozen times then tightened it up to the point I felt comfortable with. Another dozen strokes and she flopped over again. Then I took some channel locks to it almost to the point I thought it might snap. If it works tomorrow I’ll replace that thumb screw with a set screw.

Any luck with yours buck? I’m just not feeling it but we’ll see how it does, I’ll give it an honest chance before it’s banished to the bowels of the junk drawer.

That *****. Mine are smooth (just went out and strip a few wires) and I don’t ever recall having an issue with the stopper.

I think I found my new go to stripper in the Tekton/German one*! I have two former students who use that style and swear by them, I always thought a one size fits all stripper was too good to be true, but based on my limited use of these Tektons I'm sold. The length adjustment feature is pretty cool too, the Ideals did not have that. As long as you pinch both sides of the adjuster, it locks into place solidly.
I do have a sander that is getting all kinds of lights added in two weeks, so I'll really put it to the test, but I have high hopes for this one!

I really like my Ideals, but like I said, you gotta use the correct opening on the die and it's not nearly as compact as the Tektons. The Klein/Irwin ones were just useless to me from the start.

* Everyone can buy whatever the hell they want in that style at whatever the hell price point or maker, I really don't care!

I didn’t really get to use those today but I did try them out in some 24ga solid. Holy **** these worked slick plus it had no issues doing the pair simultaneously. No nicks in the copper of nothing weird. And I’m confident I know the area where the notchyness is coming from but we need to do some surgery to confirm it. And that wasn’t happening on my tailgate.

You mean the Kleins? Curious if the ones I had were either no good or I just didn't have the patience.
I played with the Tekton more today, I'm SOLD. No clue how, but they did solid with al kinds of wire....except now that I think about it solid wire! Have done none of that with them, and probably won't. I think I'll keep the Ideals for solid wire and these for auto stuff. They even fit in the stripper drawer!😀

Ya I was talking about the Klein’s. But Olli and I have been discussing the blue version of your tektons. When you’ve used them a couple hundred times let us know if they locking up. They sure look like exact copies.

Follow up....LOTS of stripping and crimping on this job. Some obsetvations....
1. I REALLY, REALLY like the compact size and no need to look. Came in really handy especially under the tru k and tight spots.
2. Wire cutter up top is not that great, but I prefer using wire cutters anyway.
3. It stripped insulated wire bundles beutifully! Took the insualtion off but left the individual wires and their insulation intact.
4. It did get jammed up once, but a pull.of the grip reset everything. That was really the only hang up I had.

Love these things and I waited too long, but these are quality, so maybe good I waited?
