I have way too many PH2s. But, I'm probably going to try these new ones.

For the most part (excluding tool trucks...)--single screwdrivers are cheap and even nice ones are less than $10.

PS: Will Rural King be getting these? They were where I bought my existing Tekton stuff. All I'm seeing is the older High Torque drivers--with not so much as a clearance price. I might as well buy the nut drivers and regular (slotted/Phillips) sets so my shop screwdriver drawer will all be one brand.

These just came out last year and aren't available anymore? Is there a new version coming? I need some 1/4" square drive locking extensions.

I needed to warranty a 1/4" and a 3/8" version of these a few weeks apart earlier this year. The 1/4" one I got with no problem. When i tried to get the 3/8" I was told they were having issues with them (same issue I was having) and they were on back order. I could either wait for the new ones to be made and put on the wait list or, get a refund. I chose to wait.
The problem mine had was the release collar would get stuck back and it would not hold the socket at all any more.

They replied last night. That's unfortunate.

Tekton doesn’t really have much control over the quality of the products they distribute.

As a whole, I feel like Tekton is headed in a good direction. But the lack of consistency is concerning to me.

I passed on the Tekton locking extensions just as I passed on Ko-Ken's version as well. They both seem fat to me. Someone mentioned Proto. I really like their 1/4 drive impact locking extensions. However, I don't think they're made by Proto. I think AJ Manufacturing is behind most brands of locking extensions. I'd look at the new ones recently released from VIM under their MVRK line but, I would try to find a better price than VIM's website. https://vimtools.com/product/ilex400usa/

Back to Tekton, I think Tekton does a great job of offering great bang for your buck tools that can be used hard daily in a professional setting. However, I think they would have been better off improving the hard handle screwdriver blades instead of throwing the baby out with the bath water and switching to German made. I'm also disappointed in MAC/Proto closing the US plant that made the Duratek Screwdrivers in favor of I believe their new French made versions but, that's just me.

Tekton's inconsistency might be fueled by supplier issues and tariffs :dunno: I always like to see what's new from Astro & Tekton

Curious if these arrived? Any initial thoughts? Thanks.
They arrived last week. They seem ok out of the black paper. Typical German quality. Appear to be the same as second gen Matco without the anti slip flocking in the black area, fat handles. One thing I noticed is that there's a crease/scratch on the top cap of each handle. It's more noticeable on the P2 & P3 sizes as in you can catch your fingernail on it. Must have something to do with final assembly :dunno: I like having a P3 with a four-inch blade.

Good deal. I was glad to see they carried over the shorter P3 length. I have it in the alien grip.
Looks like a mold line on the cap.
I would like to see this as a 1/4 spinner handle but with the female in the handle end they have always lacked. 3/8 drive would be great, but I’m not sure the handle is big enough.
A bit driver would be a welcome addition too.
For now, it looks like they are keeping the alien versions of both of those alive.
From what I see, the red hard handles will continue being made for the 6 in one style drivers. I liked it on that since it was a smaller grip compared to most other brands.

I have some of the Knipex MaxxPro insulated drivers, which I assume are similar to these new Tektons.

They seem fine if you like the handle. It would be nice if they had knurling on the shaft. Out of the box they gripped screws well. With the pronounced trilob, I needed one of the pointy ends pointing into my palm to have a comfortable grip with the ph2, this isn't the problem if you don't shift your grip, but for me it was well trying to drive a screw all the way in to a 2x4 as I would readjust my grip.

I mentioned to tekton and PB swiss that they should consider adding knurling to their shafts. Tekton got right back to me and said they would discuss it. I've not heard back from PB Swiss.

My expectation is that you're either going to love or hate these new Tekton screwdrivers. If you don't like them, I don't think it'll be based on the quality, it will be. How does it feel in your hand when you use it.
