I'm afraid it's inevitable but I am not trying to start an amateur metallurgy debate. This is just sharing information for those who may be interested.
I ordered a 35mm 1/2" drive impact socket from Tekton to replace the one from the soft as cheese Harbor Freight axle nut set I bought years ago. Imagine my surprise when it arrived labeled CR-MO. All of my other impacts from them are CR-V.
They have advertised a set of 3/4" drive in moly for a while but this is the first I've seen in 1/2".
