I know many individuals on this forum only use US made tools, or tools from other high end companies (such as NWS), and I also appreciate quality tools such as Snap-On and Channellock.
However, I'm still a student (low amounts of cash) and don't earn a living with my tools, so I've purchased some tools from Tekton through Amazon. As far as I'm aware, all of their tools are from Taiwan and China, but I have purchased wisely and haven't received a tool that has let me down so far.
Anyway, the point is I recently purchased a screwdriver bit set to try out - Tekton 2840 Every Bit Set. I purchased it primarily for the bits, and I'm happy with them as the set offers very good variety and the machining looks much better than other cheap bit sets I've seen, such as Harbor Freight's. For example, the hole in the middle of the tamper resistant Torx bits appears perfectly centered and consistent.
Soon after my purchase, Tekton released this new version of the set (2841), which also comes with one of those inexpensive precision bit sets and a precision bit driver for $1 more.
I emailed them hoping there was a chance they'd be willing to exchange my unused 2840 set for the newer 2841 set. They quickly replied stating they would send me the new set free of charge and I can simply keep the old set too.
A few months ago there was a bit of rust forming on an offset ratchet I had purchased for about $11. They replaced that too no questions asked, when all I had really asked is if they had any rust prevention tips (I keep all tools indoors and with silica gel packets in each drawer) or if these ratchets were known to rust.
I know it's just a $29 bit set and a cheap ratchet, but that kind of customer service isn't too common lately (unless you pay a couple hundred percent worth of markup from a tool truck) and I believe they should be commended. Sorry if this kind of info isn't wanted in the forum, I wasn't sure.
