An email this morning announcing a new, limited line for those interested. I'm assuming the website will have more details.

Will they be available in 6+ weeks, every single passing week, for months on end, just like their flex head and reversible ratcheting wrenches?

I am not personally interested in their comfort grip ratchets, I did message them asking if they plan to introduce a hard handled ratchet version and they said "We currently don't have any set plans to offer our ratchets in the hard handles at this time." So that is kind of unfortunate.

Can you give me an example of when a quick release ratchet is bad? I have always preferred them, and they make removing sockets with greasy hands so much easier.
personal preference. I think the quick release weakens the square drive. I don't care for the quick release button sticking out on some models. Some guys prefer blondes while others like red heads. Just personal choice.

Yeah, it probably would weaken the square drive.
That's why l picked non quick release on my 24" Tekton 1/2" drive ratchet.

these hit Tekton's website today 3/30/22. Did anyone else pop for a set?
Thats pretty amazing they kept the price the same as the classic handle.
Comfort handles almost always seem to come with an up-charge.
Im not a big Tekton fan, but good for them. I hope these do well. It seems they put a lot of R&D into the handle engineering.

Tight quarters when the "quick" release button gets in the way, or gets depressed and goodbye socket/extension. I've never understood how adding in a button press makes pulling the socket off "quicker." I've also twisted off non-QR square drives both 3/8" & 1/2" without power tools or cheaters, I'll pass on hollowed out ones.

I see they are available now. I'm sooo tempted but I just have far too many ratchets now for a basic home shop. I would like to hear some commentary on the handle texture, firmness and overall feel though. I really like the action of the four Tekton ratchets that I have. I'm not crazy about the handle though.

Same here. I'll probably order one along with a 6-in-1 handle and make my own....AGAIN.

I'm also NOT a fan of quick release ratchets.

Hey, did anyone else notice that their swivel head ratchets are no longer listed on their website?

Like others have said to each there own but I like quick release, I have had to pry off sockets on matco, and snap on ratchets.

My preference has nothing to do with getting a socket off, it has to do with the socket or extension falling off when I don't want it to if I am palming the ratchet head, and, mainly, for clearance working in tight spaces. They have their place, just not so much for me. If I have to wrestle a socket off a ratchet, I usually fix the ratchet or toss it, the offending socket, or both, in the scrap bin.

I prefer not having the quick release, also, for the reasons @Raineman provided. If these are introduced in a non-quick release version I'll likely buy a set. I'm happy with the non-comfort grip handle Tekton ratchets I have and wouldn't hesitate to buy more.

I ordered a set. I am just starting to get into trying different ratchets. For the price I figure I can pass them to someone else if they aren't for me.

These arrived at my door today. I ordered them yesterday.. they always seem to get my orders shipped same day, and Fedex Ground always seems to get them to me the next day, Im about 250 miles from GR ? Id guess.

The handles are a " sticky " plastic that you can get a good grip on. Id have to imagine they will also attract grime.

Im mostly in drive train on the bench, so I love quick release and fume when Im not using quick release ratchets. So clearly this is a " one size does not fit all ".

Wish they were US made instead of Twain.

I got this in an email earlier in March. I think maybe the geo politcal temprature at the moment, might be moving them to find subcontrators anywhere but in Taiwan.

A Message from the CEO on USA Tool Production
Hello,

I'm John Amash, the CEO of Tekton, and I wanted to share exciting developments about our US manufacturing efforts. More and more of our tools are now made in the US, through a combination of our in-house manufacturing operations and partnerships with some of the best contract manufacturers in the country. The percentage of USA-made products in Tekton's lineup is now over 20 percent, including angle wrenches, crowfoot wrenches, dead blow hammers, groove joint pliers, hard-handle screwdrivers, high-torque screwdrivers and nut drivers, pick and hook sets, and several tool storage products. Our next USA-made category will be flare nut crowfoot wrenches.

Our in-house manufacturing capabilities include CNC machining, broaching, laser engraving, vibratory polishing, and pressing. Although we maintain strict control over the materials, processes, and specifications everywhere we make our tools, we believe there’s no substitute for working in our own plant with our own equipment. So we’re working hard to expand our in-house manufacturing capacity.

This was shared in the same tekton email as well, I really like hearing this from a company that I buy from..

A quick related note on country of origin: I take seriously the importance of transparency about where we make our tools. The country of origin (or countries of origin for some products with parts from multiple places) is clearly stated under the "Specs" section on each product’s page on Tekton.com. When we say the country of origin is “United States,” we mean that the whole tool is made here, including its components.

Its factual, as well as true.

Unlike the scum bags that sell allot of stuff with the USA flag on it, and states on the box " Assembled in the USA from Worldwide sourced Components " +- ...

Basically, they screw two halves together, shove it a box and suddenly a Chi-Com POS is pushed off, on those that cant read, as being " American ".

Ive seen some videos of companies making " USA " made power tools, and literally, that is what they do. The whole thing is China junk, shipped here 99.8% finished, just put two halves together and call it American made.

I purchased the regular length 3/8" drive with comfort grip, and it arrived today with a small order I placed (also rx'd hard handle torx driver, 21 mm deep socket, long #2 screwdriver).

Time will tell how well it holds up, but it's a nice ratchet. The comfort grip isn't hard. Wouldn't call it squishy either, but it is sticky or grippy. Seems ok, but like a previous poster mentioned it may attract grime. Not a big deal to me.

I still think a lot of the Tekton ratchets and sockets are overpriced, but I have to admit this ratchet is ok. Very little back drag and feels good in use. The head is surprisingly compact. It's quite a bit smaller than the Hazet 8816HPS (newer 90T design) that I have been using lately. Considering that a comparable Snap-on, Hazet, or Stahlwille is over twice the cost, there is some value here for what is likely a quality tool.
