:headscrat:headscrati never had a 15/16 metric wrench.got pics?
Tekton had this set of wrenches in a single roll that had metric on one side and standard on the other. Our planter is all standard, and the tractor is all metric, so it was a great choice.

I just placed another order on Saturday. Love all their tools I own so far. Ordered two wrenches. The screwdriver sampler and two sockets. I was going to buy just one screwdriver which was going to be the hard handle number 2 Phillips then I seen the sampler and figured it would not hurt to try the other handle too. It was only $10 I was going to pay $7 for just one. I’ll probably end up buying the hard handle set for home cause I want better screwdrivers than my cheap $6 HF set from years ago that the tips are junk on and the other miscellaneous ones I have. I emailed today to ask a question. I wanted to inquire about the 4 piece mini screwdriver set they emailed right back informing me it was discontinued which was a shame cause they are super handy I have a set but wanted one for the house too. Next time I’m at Rural King I’m going to see if they have any left I wanted to order from the website so I could get points for them. I plan to use my points towards some stubby wrenches. Wish they would release the swivel impact sockets too cause I don’t want to pay for the Snap-on ones. I think we should all email and request they make the mini screwdrivers again lol. Fortunately haven’t had to use their warranty but I know if I do they will be great about it.

I haven't had to warranty anything yet. But I did buy their whole socket/drive set for $400 when it was on overstock sale a few months ago. I did this based on what I had heard about their quality and warranty.

This replaced my USA Cman set that I bought about 10 years ago. The set was mostly from a ~320 piece set I bought, but I also pieced together some other sockets that were missing. I will be selling the Cman set at somepoint. The Tekton set looks way nicer than the Cman set ever did. I have WAY more sockets now, especially in deep well, and they are all 6 point. I think for my 1/2" drive SAE and Metric deep before I only had about 7 sockets for each. Now I have ~20+ in each.

The rest of my tools are still USA made CMan. I would like to try more of Tektons wrenches etc and see how they are. Not sure I will replace everything, but I am definitely looking at them as I add to my tools.

IMO, Tekton has filled the void that Craftsman has left for the heavy DIY to low end pro mechanic. They have the attitude that "it has our name on it, so we're going to take care of it." I really appreciate that they have kept up with the times, and if you send them an email with a picture of the problem you have that they will take care of you.

One of the most powerful memories of my youth is my father tearing into a Chrysler RB engine Friday evening, knowing that he had to have it re-ringed, new bearings, and valves lapped in by Monday morning so that it would get him to work. Pop had a good set of Craftsman tools that he used to work on cars and the rest of the house to keep us safe and warm. I remember that on the Christmas after my 18th birthday I received a set of Craftsman tools that I used to keep me and my wife's cars and apartments working until we got established.

Sadly, Sears has squandered the trust that had been built over the decades. There's no longer a Sears within 75 miles of where I live. Useful tools have been discontinued, with no recourse. Hopefully Stanley B&D can restore some of that trust, but until then, Tekton is my go to source for quality tools, that I can count on.
I was concerned about my Cman warranty, but I had an old 18" flex head 1/2" drive V series ratchet(probably from the early 80's?) that had broke a while ago. Contacted Cman via their website and got a new 96 tooth V Series replacement($100 ratchet) within a few days. Overall very happy. Still trying to find a rebuild kit for my other ratchet though. I have a Sears Hometown store that has warrantied a few sockets for me, but they just announced that the Sears Hometown brand is also closing shop(going bankrupt?). So they are closing their store.

An ACE Hardware just opened in town so I will attempt to warranty a few things through them to see how it goes, otherwise I will just go straight to Cman's website.

Good luck with the Craftsman warranty. If you want to buy new craftsman to replace your broken tools, some Napa auto parts stores are desperate to sell you some. Speaking from experience.

Back to Tekton, are the angle wrenches seriously almost as good as Snap on? Not really concerned about warranty, just overall feel and leverage. Tekton brand angle wrenches which are USA made.

I have mixed feelings about Tekton . . .

Back in 2019 I invested in several sets of impact sockets (Standard and Metric) so now almost all my sockets are Tekton. The rub, now 3 years later, almost all of them are unlegible in terms of figuring out what size socket I’m working with.

I wish they we etched and/or engraved. Cause the painted on stuff wears off quickly and now I can't read any of my sockets.

I can't stand that etched **** either, sometimes if a socket got a little rusty or dirty or whatever, I'll power sand them on an impact with a scotch-brite pad. Can't do so with the etched markings.
I heard tell Tekton will warranty for missing markings only, don't know if the newer sockets and engraved or still just etched.

Blake how do you like those screwdrivers?
Somebody over at den of tools on Facebook mentioned tekton, and I told him about the screwdrivers and another guy piped up and said junk that's all he said. I didn't ask him if he had any personal experience I didn't get into it you know some guys just like to pop off I don't know if he had any personal experience with them or not. I haven't had a need to use mine yet.
You have probably used yours at work right are the tips holding up okay and everything?

Tips are great from my experience. Hold up really well. I wouldn’t have a problem having a set as my main set. The hard handle is my preference too. All my coworkers have given the sampler a try too (mine) and we all agree the hard handle is the best. Of course that part is preference. If that guy said junk he has no clue how to use a screwdriver or is a tool snob or has never used a HF screwdriver lol. I’d recommend them to anyone who wants a good screwdriver set that won’t break the bank.

I don't find them to be on par with SO, they are much more square on the edges and not the same chrome as SO...but the price is WAY better than SO. I have not found anything wrong with the Tektons though, just form.
I own SO up to 1 1/2 and all their metrics, I used Tekton to fill in the metrics and the bigger SAE.

Their new sockets are stamped deep with the size markings as well as etched like the ones you received. No more worrying about not being able to see the size!

I purchased a set of impact sockets quite some time ago thinking this was a cheap Harbor Freight type tool company and I was dead wrong. Other than the markings being worn off these things are great. When I need to add a tool and Tekton carries it it's a no brainer. Haven't been on their website yet though and I just checked it out thanks to this thread ..... Looks like a great site with lots of stuff I didn't know they had !!

As far as remarking the sockets I just painted a few of the most common ones I use different colors using the wifeys crafty paints. 1/2, 9/16, 3/4, 7/8, 15/16 and 1-1/4" all have their own colors and I painted the empty spots in the case the same color. I usually toss the socket on the fastener and if it fits I use it, no looking at sizes :dunno:

I was really impressed with a set of Tekton sockets I had at my last job, not impact rated but used on a 3/8 impact for tooling changes. So I bought a couple of 11 piece 1/4" drive sets from sears (filled by 3rd party) years ago. sockets that showed up where "pro shop" I think. Asked about it on here and had pm from Dave the next morning. apparently that dealer was known to do bait and switch sales, I provided enough info they could act on so he sent me a full 1/4" drive replacement set. awesome customer service and highly recommend.

I understand tekton will warranty the sockets just for the laser etching worn off!

Huh. Well they work fine as is I guess so I'll keep them this way. No need to get a new set for nothing when these are still quite useable.

That's nuts they would warranty them for paint wearing off due to being used lol. Speaks to the kind of company they are I guess and that's a good thing !!!

Warranties are a marketing tool. It’s one of the things that made the craftsman brand so well known. They dropped the ball and now companies like Tekton are grabbing the ball and scoring. I may never use Tekton’s warranty but I like, and will buy from a company that not only has a warranty but makes the entire purchasing experience (and possible warranty experience) a pleasure. Same reason I buy from Costco. The smart companies build in a desirable customer experience and works on me.

So what have others done to mark the sizes of their sockets? Engraving? Gel Pen?

The Tekton sockets are fine, I just need to remark them somehow so I know what I’m working with.
Personally, I visually can usually tell apart sockets or wrenches that are two sizes apart....ie - 10mm vs 12mm. So I powder coated half of my sockets and combination wrenches red. If I needed a 12mm socket or wrench, I could look at my red tools and visually figure our which of them was 12mm as opposed to 10 or 14.
