Just a heads up, Tekton recently added a bunch of drivers and driver sets to the outlet. There are some pretty good prices on USA made screwdrivers. I picked up several of the Torque Grip slotted and phillips. You still get the rewards on them as well. Don't forget to add your free decal to the cart.

Picked up the 12pc set of hard handles, and three hard handle picks. Their hard handle drivers are one of the Tekton tools I feel stands out from the rest.

They make the angle wrenches on a CNC vertical milling machine. That’s why they are astronomically expensive. It’s an extremely inefficient process. Everything else they buy I believe. I try to buy direct from the manufacturer if possible.

Have you seen Snap On prices?

The new satin finish version Tekton has is really nice. I'm also not aware of a cheaper made in USA alternative that's a true 30*/60* angle wrench.

Capri and Icon are the only two alternatives I can think of that are made in Taiwan. But limited in sizes.

I have a Snap On set, but I got them 2nd hand still like new. Hell if I'm paying $1,000. I also had a CAT branded Snap On SAE set when I worked at CAT, but still more expensive than Tekton would be.

I always forget the sticker, which means after many orders I still don't have a sticker...

Snap on’s are sold at a price only a driver can love. Angle wrenches serve a very small market with close to monopolistic supply. Tekton bought a small machine shop and entered a market where $50 a wrench would seem like a bargain. Good look for them.

I'm so baffled by the original complaint here. If you want more manufacturing in the US, this is often where it has to start - a small manufacturer who finds a niche with margin, and uses that to grow. That seems to be what Tekton is doing with a lot of their US lineup: niche high margin items, or products (screwdrivers) where there's some still some semblance of a domestic supply chain to leverage.

As we saw with Stanley Black and Decker completely fumbling the ball on a new, massive hardline tool factory: going straight to competing with mass produced low margin imported tools is rarely successful.

Do you guys want domestic tool manufacturing or not?? Every time someone tries it, there's bitching and moaning about the price.

Not to mention Craftsman and Malco (Eagle Grips)... And the dozen other companies who no longer exist.

I am a Tekton fan, use it at school for our basic hand tool carts.
Also a huge fan of the angle wrenches. I had Snap On up to 1-1/2, Tektons allowed me to go to 2" now. The Snap Ons are CRAZY priced, but those wrenches can really save your ***. Kudos for Tekton for making a less expensive option that's US made also!

Not sure on the milling machine, but a laser CNC I’ve worked with would punch out the rough wrenches. The term rough is applied versus finished product. The laser’s that ine been around would have that “ rough” cut out wrench looking very clean and almost ready to use.
I watched huge gears cut for road graders and the finish laser cuts were amazing in finish. Plus the machine auto loads blanks that multiple wrench’s will come from. It’s amazing what automation can accomplish today.

Forging and stamping are king in hand tool production. My intent was to point out that Tekton wasn’t stepping up making more products with a link to their US manufactured products. They are the distributer of those products, not the manufacturer, in all cases except angle wrenches and crows feet. It appears Tekton has less then 100 employees, most working in the warehouse.

Dave with Tekton here.

Any chance that we have to increase our USA manufacturing, where it makes sense to, we do.

This includes creating new processes like our laser mill process, and even putting in our electroless nickel plating line. We have invested greatly in the manufacturing capacity of our Grand Rapids manufacturing center in the last few years.

We design our tools, website, and processes all in house in Grand Rapids. I don’t have exact numbers, but I’d guess our fulfillment team is about half of our total team. This is why we’re able to ship so quickly, usually same day before 2 pm EST.

To sum it up, we’re really working towards bringing all the work closer to home to provide the best tools and prices to our users.

I put in some orders that I think will take time to fill (based on when I put in the orders) and items are still shipped so fast I have trouble figuring out how you do it.

Ever think about putting in a pickup window for local orders? I'd use that. I live about 2.5-3 miles from Tekton. Save some shipping

I bought three of the 12-piece sets and added the 4-piece pocket prybar set that wasn’t on clearance; great quality on these. Feels like Snap On at a fraction of the cost.

They came in handy too; we unwrapped them and immediately used them hole taking off the doors to a fridge we were trying to take outside.

I’ll continue to support Tekton at full price and discounted prices.

You mean these

I use these ALL the time. This morning I used them to take apart a very old (wooden base, metal top) Bailey hand plane that has been in my family since it was purchased new. I have furniture made with it before I was born. And I finally decided to rehab it. But that would be an entirely new post.

Point is that I just keep finding uses for these. My next order will have one or two more of these sets.

Yessir. That is them. I think they’ll land pretty high on my favorites list before long. I’m planning on buying two sets for my sons.

Had not thought about it, but a perfect gift for one of my brother-in-laws and maybe my father in law. My dad would have loved these but he passed this year :-(

Thanks for the idea. Both are difficult to buy for.

Sure thing. Throw in a 4-piece pick set for extra credit. 👍
