Because you're a Tekton.com account holder, we're giving you advance notice of a price increase taking place on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. In most cases, product prices will increase between 5 and 12 percent.

The next two weeks are your last opportunity to purchase Tekton tools at the current prices. Regardless of when you decide to buy, you'll continue to receive free shipping within the USA and industry-leading support, plus 10% back in Rewards that you can spend like cash on future Tekton.com orders.

This company is first class. Had an order that I paid for with points. It was in fedex’s control in Memphis when they got hit with the tornado. Been waiting for it for a month. Called them to cancel and refund the points back to my account. Done deal. Will order their 3/8 torque wrench now.

I don't have any Tekton tools. But that might change after reading this thread.

Smart marketing technique. I'm sure they will more than make up for the price difference between now and the increase. I own some sockets and they are great. I will be perusing their site after GJ.

Got the email as well.

5-12% increase will mostly likely only cover the increase in shipping costs (since they offer free shipping).
Kudos to them for giving us a heads up!

Between the price increases Jori from HJE spoke about and now Tekton, this kinda ***** for newer guys trying to build their boxes up. I noticed Zoro has had many items increase too. The combination of inflation, supply crunches, Covid, employee retention, and whatever else is starting this year off pretty rough for consumers.

I placed 2 orders with Tekton, on Jan 10 and 12, and they both shipped on the date of ordering!

But Fedex is taking forever to deliver them. The first package has been sitting in a Fedex facility 25 miles west of me for the past 4 days. The second package was scheduled for delivery today but is still "in transit" in Illinois (I am in north Idaho). Fedex *****. Are they having a service meltdown?

I found this Jan 7 article about Fedex:

Jan 7 (Reuters) - FedEx Corp (FDX.N) warned on Friday that rising cases of Omicron variant has caused staff shortage and delay in shipments transported on aircraft.

"The explosive surge of the COVID-19 Omicron variant has caused a temporary shortage of available crew members and operational staff," the company said.

The delivery firm said severe winter storms around the country, including at its main air hub in Memphis, Tennessee, are posing challenges and it is implementing contingency plans and adjusting operations to minimize disruptions.

Rival United Parcel Service Inc (UPS.N) said that call-outs due to Omicron are not impacting their services, adding that contingency plans are in place.

5~12% off isn't much of an incentive. Tekton, even at 50% off current price, is not that attractive in terms of price/performance.

This is the second time I've seen you say Tekton is priced 50% too high. Please, let us know where we can get comparable quality tools for half price. (Seriously, please, let me know).
I'd like to know too! I use some Tekton tools professionally working on heavy equipment and even with this increase coming, I think they are still priced right. They see some heavy use at times and haven't let me down yet.

I have a Snap-On ratcheting wrench set and a handful of flex head and rigid Tekton ratchet wrenches, and some larger sizes the Snap-On set doesn't have. I honestly prefer the Tekton over the Snap-On. Don't get me wrong I like the Snap-On, but the Tekton wrenches "feel" better to me.

Always fun to read a positive Tekton tool review.

Ordered a set of thinwall sockets. Cost me $3.50 out of pocket. The good news my points are gone, the better news is I will have to buy more to build them back up. Would like the mini-plier kit for the electronic bench.

I think it's funny hearing the kudos being thrown to tekton for this.

Lots of companies give notice on price increases, not because it is a "good" thing to do, but because it drives a flurry of sales leading up to the increase. Lots of stuff getting purchased that probably wouldn't have been
It's amazing how many people are thanking Tekton for this! It's basic marketing.

"Last chance to stock up while prices are low!", so people go ahead and buy a bunch of tools they weren't really going to buy over FOMO on the "low prices".

Sure, but it's also really nice to those of us who aren't so susceptible to marketing. I've been screwed before by sudden price increases I wasn't expecting so I appreciate the heads up. In this case I have the opportunity decide if I want to execute on some items I've had sitting in my cart while I wait for my tool budget to recover. If I went back to my cart in a couple weeks and saw that prices had gone up without warning I would have been a bit frustrated and bitter.

Maybe Menards, Lowe’s and HD should have an email go out when they’re jacking lumber and sheet goods up by 50% or more overnight? That would get them some business!

Those are commodities and the stuff on the rack is priced directly tied to its cost basis. The price goes up when they spend more, so selling through inventory would cost them money

I got very interested in the set of super-short extensions a few weeks back, (great for fine-tuning the length of your extensions in tight spots, and hard to find) but then a squirrel or something ran past and I forgot all about it.

Anyway, this "warning" was my prompt to complete the order, and add in a few extras. They should get here in a few days.

I bought several of each size recently as well- before the price increase notice. This is something I've been wanting for a while and I haven't seen anyone outside of tool trucks offer it. Does Snap On offer extensions that are as short as the Tektons?

Anyone that thinks Tekton is 2X more expensive than what it's worth, then shop elsewhere; I'm not sure where that would be though.

Odd.....after 2 full days I still haven't gotten that email. And no, its not in my spam folder. Maybe prices aren't going up for me.

Tekton is one of many tool rebranders. You can easily find better or comparable quality tools everywhere, for example, Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, Harbor Freight, Amazon, tool discounter, ...... Just shop around.

Our local Meijer stores used to have a Tekton aisle (until 2020). I've purchased about $5K worth of tools in the last 10 years, during which Tekton had been always a consideration due to convenience, but I've only purchased 4~5 items from them at 50% off, such as a stubby wrench set, two stubby screw drivers, a hammer, and a O2 sensor socket. They are OK, but far from being special, except:
  • Tekton website is great
  • Tekton offers non-skip socket sets (for example, 3/8"drive to 24mm)
For a long time, Gearwrench offers many BOGO deals and deep discounts. For example, 1/4" and 3/8" master socket sets for $100 shipped. I ended up with many Gearwrenches, not Tekton.

I'm actually not the first one who said Tekton is priced 50% too high. Just a feel when shopping for tools (based on available discounts), by no means accurate, or bias against Tekton.
Here is an example:

The same set by the same manufacturer was sold at Sears for $20 (Craftsman), Menards for $25, Walmart's HyperTough was also $20 ish.

I think the price increase makes them less attractive now. I can go over to Capri and get the same tool if not better and if Capri mirrored Tekton on a few sets they would take the lead. Tekton uses Trusty Cook hammers and stamps their name on tool just like craftsman and other like Capri do. Tekton customer service is what you are paying for in my opinion Tekton is second to none in that department so I think the price increase will be tolerated for now. More made in USA is what people are looking for. Tekton will survive and be legendary with their customer service as long as they keep the current policies in place.
