I have a Tekton 15013 24" handle 1/2" drive ratchet, it's been a fantastic tool that was worth every penny.
I knew that a ratchet with this long of a handle was going to get broken eventually. It's just too easy to take advantage of.
I found the weak point yesterday, which was the square drive. Seems like the quick release weakens the drive, since the teeth seem to give out first on non-QR Taiwan ratchets.
Being that this failure was complete abuse on my part, I was looking for a rebuild kit more than a replacement, which I don't think is available from Tekton.
I noticed that the head on my HF composite and extendable ratchets looked identical. Sure enough, the guts are interchangeable. The composite ratchets are cheap enough (10 bucks) that you can buy one, steal the guts, then chuck it in the trash and not feel bad.
There are other Tekton ratchets that share the same internals as HF too. The low profile 3/8 is an example of that.
Edit: Tekton got back to me amazingly quickly and will be sending a repair kit. I didn't think they were available, but they are. A+ customer service.
