These look like pretty good deals if these Tekton sets are any good. I've never owned any, but for $3 or $5 or $17 it's hard to pass up these deals.

If experience with any, please comment if they're worth buying.

Not really Sears, it's Sears Outlet. Which, like many other 'Outlet' stores, mostly stocks lower grade items than the parent store rather than overstock/clearance items.

Tekton/MIT is a marketing name. Sometimes their name is put usable tools. Their buyers might even have a preference for it. But it's not a requirement.
Their marketing people responded to a mostly positive review I posted on Amazon, so they do track opinions. I believe that they would actually fulfill their warranty, but the economics of spending $5 on shipping to exchange a $4 tool kit means that they almost never will need to.

If there was one place that I wouldn't want to use a low quality screwdriver, it would be on my rifle scope. I'd be real afraid of chewing up the scope or its hardware...

I have warranty claimed a pair of slip-joints and a wrench with Tekton. In both cases, I sent an e-mail with pictures of my issue and they promptly sent replacements without me shipping the bad items back and told me to throw the bad item away. I was out no money for return shipping and only my time to e-mail them.

There have been similar stories to yours. For an import brand they seem to bend over backwards to provide good service.

Just giving an honest experience. I do not buy a lot of their stuff but what I have bought that had issue with, they took care of it with no hassle.
