I come from a Tool background, and all I do besides a little online research is test stuff. And so far I have been pleased with everything. We aren't out there to compete with the truck brands, they do a good enough job. We are out to get your home owners, and hobby mechanics good tools at a good price. Its a bummer when people tell you that your product is garbage before even handling it.

If anyone ever has an issue you can contact me directly and I will solve it.

Just spent some time on your website and the links out to amazon. Lots of tools (huge catalog) for very little money. I'd be curious to see how they hold up.

What kind of stuff are you considering? Maybe I can offer some insight.

I think i have a set of Tekton screwdrivers...

They seem nice enough for the money, although the size/type stamping on the rubber handles wears away within about 15 seconds of use.

Hey Dave, are you guys a supplier, or do you both have the same supplier as some of the HF stuff?

Those led lights, and some of the socket/ratchet sets are dead ringers for stuff i've seen (and sometimes bought) at HF.

I do have that set... and it also seems that there's another company selling the same exact set as the 54 piece. I have that set as well, but not Tekton name.

I haven't used the 54 piece, it's one of my traveling sets that i hope i never use.

But yes, the ones in the 6 piece aren't bad. Feel decent in the hand, good grip, can't say how strong they are, i haven't used them as pry bars.... yet. :lol_hitti

The phillips head bits are getting a little torn up, but so do my craftsman screwdrivers, and i don't think anyone is comparing these to Wera or Wiha drivers anyways.

So far as I have seen yet...your stuff isn't really quality, not made in the western world...

The universal joint are not screwed...just some pins...the whole website gives no information over the material, ISO standards etc...for me it looks like that cheap chinese stuff everyones try to avoid.
Proof your "quality"...make some pics of the 1/4" square of those dif. chrome sockets...
http://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-1035-4-Inch-8-Inch-52-Piece/dp/B000J6C8FU/ref=sr_1_155?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1334000863&sr=1-155
Checked also Amazon....hell a 52 pc set including 2 ratches for under 30$...THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT TO ABUSE THE PEOPLE IN ASIA!!!!! That is not possible to get a quality tool for that money...even for the home user...stubborn bolt stays a stubborn bolt.

I hate those abusing companies...one of the reasons why the economy here ***** so much...

I have these screwdrivers. Handles are really small feeling. Very inexpensive though rarely use them.

Most of our products are ANSI, Most companies use pins in U-Joints, I guess If you don't like our products cause we have a good price on Amazon that's fair.

That could be the case, but a lot of times the basic handle designs and things like that are similar even with different suppliers. And specs can be requested, like Chrome Vanadium or Moly, Its unfortunate that it works out that way cause a lot of times products get grouped together just on a looks basis. There have been a couple items that are dead on like what we sell, but when I took the time I figured out differences.

Some people would, and be upset the whole time. We just try to provide the best value. And even if a product may fail we stand behind it and we are proud of our warranty process.

I have the tekton body hammer set, and while it does not compare to my MAC TOOLS fiberglass handled set, they are good for working on the rough stuff. In other words stuff I abuse. So far the set has held up well and the dollies work good too. I have began to sell the hammer sets due to them working out for me.

Did you support this website through advertising or is this just promotional spam?

You mean GJ? I was on here before I started in at Tekton, I just like to tell you guys about freebies, I try not to mention my brand unless a question come directly up, Because I know nobody wants to see me ramble on about our stuff. I'm not trying to sell anything, just give away some stuff. We had a give-away before and it was a Facebook one, and GJ made it clear they wanted a non-Facebook required give away, so here we are. I really hope this isn't seen as spam.

i dunno... a give away is promotional idea and that's understood

but i just get the feeling this whole thread is a marketing push that just happens to have a giveaway as a pretext

if you are going to give something away... then do that... stop your marketing... or else do the right thing and support the website

just sayin

I guess I missed where I was marketing, I told about the promo, and replied to some comments? Eventually we may end up running ads on here, but for now, this is just my personal account. There is no "marketing" idea to this, that side of it is the Facebook stuff. I'm just trying to include you guys on some free stuff.

I guess, sorry for asking if anyone had any questions. I didn't realize an Employee at a tool company asking if anyone needed anything answered was spam. And In my first I answered a question people were asking.

I asked if anyone had worked with Tekton before. Not if anyone wanted to buy anything, or pushing a product, asking a question.

And because of that I found a guy that had an issue and fixed it for him, whens the last time you had a tool company looking to help customers instead of waiting at a desk.

I'm just a tool guy trying to help other tool guys.

Fair enough, was just flying by what i saw. I'm tempted to grab one of those socket sets and open it and the HF up to see the differences. :)

Either way, i don't think anyone can argue that what you're doing with this giveaway and the way you're handling the peanut gallery (myself maybe included) is great. :)

Well... there's a big difference between the two threads. The Armstrong thread doesn't have multiple posts by people shitting all over the Armstrong brand and babbling incoherently.

Would supporting the site be cool? Absolutely. Is it pretty plain by this thread that many people wouldn't buy these tools anyways? Absolutely.

Is it ok for him to do damage control on those dissatisfied with his company's products and freaking out about god knows what? I suppose you're trying to say that "no it isn't." :p

Thanks man. I'm not trying to just get shameless bumps. I always hear people say they want to hear from a guy in the industry so I try to answer questions. I'm not a sales guy, I'm not a marketing guy. I'm a guy the plays with tools and tries to find what we can improve on.

Amazing. Reading through this, the last thing I thought of was "spam." Don't get discouraged, Dave. There's folks out here that appreciate giveaways.

Does anyone have any experience with Tekton?

I have set of the "MaxTorg" 16 piece metric wrench set #1938.

Wrenches are fine and of decent quality. My only complaint is that the tool roll up had reinforced metal hole slots for what one would think be for hang up on a pegboard or tool wall. With only the hole slots on both ends and not one in the middle the wrenches are two heavy causing the metal hole retainers to pull out and the holes to rip apart. Somewhat petty, but annoying none the less.

Also got the 11" long reach diagonal cutters but I have yet to use those,

Thanks guys. I was just looking to talk about tools and maybe help any questions floating around. I figured it'd be worth while to chat it up while I was here.

Dave, I was one of the original folks who groused about a Facebook only give away. Thanks for listening and adapting, it's much appreciated. That said...I have one Tekton product, a 36mm impact socket, it's well made, correctly sized and has held up to removal and installation of axle nuts just fine. Visually I can't tell a qualitative difference between the Tekton socket and Sunnex sockets that I own. Personally I don't GAFF where it's made, it was the right price and seems to be the right quality for my hobbyist needs.

Thanks Dave for the posts and the questions about Tekton tools. I have a number of Tekton tools. And yes, I use my tools professionally -- I use them to make money and I use them on a daily basis. My fav is the little ratcheting bit driver that also has a 1/4 inch drive on the flip side. I did break the "T" handle that came with a small socket set I picked up somewhere. The plastic fractured where the metal drive entered it. I put er back together with JB weld, and all is good. The two I mentioned ride with me in my electrical bag and get a lot of use. No, they aren't off a tool truck, but they have stood up well for me. I have them because they were inexpensive to buy and fill a niche that i had for those items. I'm happy with them, and if they break I'll buy a new one.
Cheers,
JimDon

We actually noticed this not long ago, and are hoping to fix the problem in the future. Kind of a bummer having a cool/different wrench set and the pouch droops. But thanks for the feedback.

Thanks, I knew not everyone was of the Facebook crowd and thought this would work better for everyone. We do try really hard on our Impacts, I've been pretty impressed with them on my testing so far. And we are going to start offering a little more variety on the Impacts soon too.

Thanks for the feedback! We actually just decided to carry another ratchet like you mentioned. We carry one in our other brand Maxcraft, and It's pretty popular so we decided to offer it in both lines. http://www.mit-tool.com/maxcraft/pr...AXCRAFT-1_4_DualDrive_Mini_Ratchet_Driver.htm

Thanks for the Feedback guys  Hopefully one of you guys wins the giveaway.

Like I said before I'm not the warranty guy, but if you break a Tekton tool and don't feel like messing around, email me [email protected].
