Tekton Torx ..?

I know..there $11.00..so what do you have to lose..right..? But thinking about buying several set for the shop..we use them alot to take floor plates up on equipment, and they usually get lost off the service trucks..left wherever. But anybody tried them in a everyday professional setting..? If they are just complete **** we will spend more in fuel going to get a replacement than the whole set costs... Heres a link..

CRv impact torx? Okay on sockets, but CRv busts to pieces on the torx I've used. Eric O was talking about Astro coming out with a new impact set made of unobtanium - I forget the model number

I've never used a torx impact bit that hasn't cracked one of the splines eventually. Just make sure it's easy to warranty and a decent fit and you'll be fine.

For the smaller sizes like t40 and under your better off buying the 1/4" bits, I like Wera.

All bit sockets, impact or not, are going to break eventually. With Tekton, you don't even need to leave the shop to warranty anything. All you need is to send them an email with a picture of the broken tool. Their impact sockets are supposed to be decent so it may be worth a try.

That's pretty cool, looks like they are made from S2 tool steel which is 'shock resistant'. Wouldn't mind giving those a run for torx.

Mudflap the cheap side of my brain would say buy them by the boat load and don't worry if the are lost or broken. But the other side of my brain would be saying that the set someone gave a link to (astro tools) is made out of S2 tool steel and that stuff is well made for everyday abuse and then some.

Tough call.

The Astro set is certainly going to be better engineered. I appreciate Chris pushing them to test a set that won’t break as easily as most do now. In the meantime for $11 get 2-3 sets for the shop and call Dave when one breaks.
