Well I know it has the wrong blade on it so I tried it with that but it doesnt cut too well with the abrasive wheel. It was given to me with this blade on it but i think its too slow for it. What kind of blde belongs on it? What can I effeciently cut with it? I need a metal chop saw so someone gave me this. Didnt tell me anything about it or what they used it for. I know Everett is a quality company so I know this must be an at least decent saw.

PS Ill upload pics in a minute

O, that's a nice saw. Is it ~8 or 10"? IIRC those take specific cut off wheel blades that are more brown than the common hardware store chop saw blade. You might want to check the speed, but it probably is running correct speed wise.

its a 10. Im running on 110 could it be set up for 230? Are they abrasive wheels the brown ones? It does stall out when cutting and hardly cuts at all after a 1/4". Its definately not as fast as the direct drive chop saws ive seen. Probably less than 1/2 the speed.

It could be, check the wiring as that is a 220/110v motor. Yes the cut off wheels are brownish and they have what looks like a square webbing of white on the face of them. What are you trying to cut with it?

Not sure about that particular one but there was a similar saw in the metal working shop in high school. It sounds like yours is spinning at the correct speed but maybe the belt needs to be adjusted if it is stalling.

Would the grinder run if it was only getting 110 instead of 230 on the High voltage circuit? Also where are the jumpers for the voltage wiring? under the cover opposite the shaft?

Also i found the blades are 109504 but cant find the blades anywhere to order one. So still need a blade reccomendation. Im using they blades that were given to me with it whick are typical black wheels about 1/8" thick.

The motor will stall if I press to hard (which isnt as hard as it sounds). I tried to cut 1.5x1.5x.25 angle and had to flip it about ten time to get through. And the exhaust pipe you see in there took a couple minutes to cut through.

And thats the first **** ive been given thanks! id really be getting them if you guys saw the pedestool grinder and woodband saw i was also given. Someone was cleaning out a shop and I scooped up. Got big cabinets a workbench tons of supplies. It was the best thing ever, better than christmas!

I have a similar Everett, but its setup for aluminum with a carbide tooth blade (10"), spinning at 1450rpm.

I would highly recommend first checking the wiring, make sure its not some strange wiring job. Second go and tighten all the belts. Third find a new, proper blade. That saw should be able to munch through metal. Or at least severett.

Theres not much to these saws.

yeah Te belts are great condition and tight. Thought the wiring was under the cap on top of the motor but its just a capacitor. Didnt take off the rear cover because im not sure whats back there should i?

What brand and part number blade are you using? will it also work for steel? I just need to know what kind it uses as everett lists 109504 as the blade but I cant find anything of the sort on it.

Oh and Mr. Brooks you probably meant pics of the other stuff. Ill see if I have any on my phone to post.

Probably inside the swtich housing. The diagram on the name plate for "low voltage" is the one you want to use.

OK so i finally got a few minutes to get into the garage. Pulled the switch off and found contacts 1-4 on the switch. Pulled rear cover and capacitor cover off to find a fan and no contacts on the cap.

The wires from the supply line are white black and green(expected). Black is connected to terminal 3. white is connected to terminal 1. Green is on a ground lug in the housing. lead 4 is tied into a white and yellow cord running into motor housing. 2 is a white cable going into motor housing. Where is 5 and 8?

So i still cant understand the wiring diagram in this respect. Should i get the DMM out and test for continuity between contacts? still wont tell me if 5 and 8 are connected because I dont know where they are.

With all the Baldor grinder restorations someone has to know more about these motors than me! I'll post some pictures in a minute.

Can anyone make sense of this or how to check if its correct?

Also zkling, thanks for all the help already. Its been greatly appreciated.

Wiring schematics for low voltage/high voltage are usually on the underside of the cover to the junction box (pic #3, post 19) The wires should have numbers on them, just match them up to the appropriate diagram.

Sorry Mad, hadnt seen any updates on this thread till now.

I will take a look at the blade thats on mine currently, but like I said its a aluminum specific blade. Never cut steel with a AL blade, or you will be ruining a blade very quickly.

Im pretty sure you can find 10" ferrous blades on the net pretty easily. You really need to be concerned about the RPMs first. If its in the ~1500 RPM range thats good for cutting steel, and can easily find a proper diameter blade for it. Anything else and I would research it first.
