Been seeing a few of these discontinued Snap-on SDDDM1A reversible screwdrivers on Ebay lately. Since they are discontinued I was suprised to see some in green and orange. I ordered a red one tonight but have a few questions for the group.

What is the length of the handle? Size of the bit - P1 or P2, 1/4" slotted, etc? When was it discontinued? Anyone know if SO still sells bits? Couldn't find any information on the SO Web site. Thanks!

They've been brought back for a little while. I got a green one off the truck the other day for $15.77 after tax. The handle is the same size as a SDD204

My snap-on guy gave me one yesterday, it showed up in his inventory/billing program as he reordered it. But when I went on the Snap-on site the number came up no good.
It is kind of cute, which means I have to hide it from the wife she likes tools that are cute.

Since I received mine today, I'll answer my questions in case anyone else is curious.

The handle is 2 3/4" long. The bit is Snap-on P/N SDM3D24 and is slotted and P2 phillips. Replacement bits are on the SO Web site for $7.95 but the complete screwdriver still does not appear on the site.

It looks cool but the blade is not long enough for my liking. Wish the bit was longer. I've abandoned it in favor or my normal Snappy flat bladed pocket screwdriver (not the free ones, this one has a similar handle)

I'm gonna have to be the negative nancy here and say I don't like them. They seem more like a novelty item than something i would actually use. I thought they were cool as hell looking so I bought an orange one off the truck which is the only one my driver had left. I wanted a green one.
After I held it in my hand I realized I would probably never use it and reach for a stubby or a normal pocket screwdriver first.
Would be fine if I got it for free but I spent 15 bux on it so I ended up selling it after a couple days to somebody on this site.
One other thing since they are a once in a while item thru snap on.....might be hard to get it warrantied if need be. You shouldn't be putting enough force on it tho to damage it so that part should be ok

Hi, newbie to this site :)

I've had one of the original SDDDM1s as part of my EveryDayCarry kit for years, clipped to a NiteIze belt pouch. It is a really quite handy tool in many situations. This morning I thought I'd lost the lot and have been looking all day to find replacements.

This site has been very helpful in tracking one down, unlike the SnapOn site which is literally as useful as a chocolate teapot. It appears to be wilfully designed to stop people buying things!

Thanks to the people who've posted the re-issued part no's, I've just ordered an orange one. For £10. Yay!

+ shipping
+ handling
+ VAT
+ special SnapOn "ooh you bought stuff, on the website, at this phase of the moon? Thaat'll cost ya" tax

So, £20 all in. About $32 :eyecrazy:

And I found my kit under the front passenger seat of my car anyway.

Cheers to Garage Journal :)

My driver gave me one of these the week before last and I was surprised to have already used it. It was great for a tight spot, fit the P2 screw perfectly. It is a good screw driver for a tight spot, thinner than a stubby but a little longer. The bit can be changed.

But what are you going to change it with? Snap-on does not seem to offer any other bits (yet). I wouldn't mind having a P1 bit.

Unless you're stuck on it being a snap on bit, any 1/4 hex bit will fit as long as it's long enough. One of mine has a p1 /small slot Vermont American (I think) bit in it at the moment.

Couldn't find any bits long enough here at home. I wonder about my MegaPro bits?

I generally prefer the Snap-on (or Zephyr), Wiha or Apex bits. Checked the Snap-on site tonight and they still offer only the slotted/P2 phillips bit (SDM3D24). Found some P1 phillips from Wiha that should work (photos attached.)

Thought I would revive this thread. My son is turning 8 and said he wants an orange snap on screwdriver "Phillips and slotted" so he can take apart some of his toys that require batteries

Well I thought this would be an excellent choice and available in Orange. Should be picking one up tomorro from my snap on guy
