Which YT channel? There’s a guy I forget his name who is a mechanic in alabama I think and he works at vim I found out so hard to trust his opinion since he works there.

I bought it before he fell completely off the rails for VIM, and it was just the occasional plug here and there amidst the Snap On and Matco new tool reviews. I unsubscribed shortly after he got the VIM logo (metaphorically) tattooed on his ***.
You don't buy Vim directly from them unless there's a closeout; you buy from dealers who have significantly lower prices. They're not going to undercut dealers on price, or they wouldn't have any.

The only “must have” item I can think of from VIM is their Magrails. But the pricing has always prevented me from even coming close to pulling the trigger.

They have some gems and meh stuff like just about every other manufacturer. Some of it is rebranded for the tool trucks and sometimes VIM buys the same stuff as everyone else from the same Taiwanese manufacturers.
Stubby 1/4 hex and torx are great. They also have been doing a decent job of innovating tools that help access. Have been eyeing that clip tool for a while

Then you just have to pay any time you want to warranty something.
Your either paying up front by giving them more money to buy direct or your paying later. Guess it depends on how often you think they need warranty
and if you trust them not to start charging shipping for all warranties even if you bought direct in the future

I agree. There prices are high for where they are in the hierarchy of tools. Especially with people having a hard time or a long time to get warranty.
I saw the video with their "sale". I also found when I did a search I was able to easily find other places that were selling their tools at prices lower than on their website with the discount. Their video of the sale, is bad acting at best, and makes me question their credibility.
The quality of their tools may be very good. I only have a few bits, and a set of 1/4 inch sockets. I have not used the bits yet as I have many. The sockets have been good, but still plan getting a set of Snap-on.

I've found the prices on the Cornwell truck for their rebranded VIM stuff aren't a lot higher than the VIM branded stuff, and you get full lifetime truck warranty service.
Now that depends on having a good Cornwell guy...or even one at all.

there would be no reason to buy vim over Tekton except that vim got a more limited offering. So I’m looking at vim only for stuff that Tekton doesn’t make tbh

I agree with all that I’m honestly trying to figure what what is there mostly gimmicky stuff and of the good stuff what isn’t made by anyone else since honestly vim is my last choice if a tool exists elsewhere do to price and warranty.
i got a few vim tools and i like them and don’t regret it one bit. there retail pricing is nuts and you can usually find it 20% off on a retailer site but then if you need warranty you basically got no warranty on anything other than huge wrenches since you got to pay 10 bucks I think shipping for warranty so on a $5 socket you wouldn’t pay $10 to warranty it you would throw it away. And then be stuck with mismatched set.
there also making alot of copycat stuff at crazy prices. They started selling a double universal joint swivel adapter I assume Taiwan and its more expensive than Koken made in japan version. They steal the design and make it cheaper and then sell it for more
i know it sounds like I’m bashing them I’m just being realistic I really love the half cut sockets I don’t think there made elsewhere and price is reasonable. And they oem them for some tool truck brands.
and these new dual drive uj 1/4 seem 100 % original. Downside is individual pricing is nuts I think was $35 each. You can buy in a set and I think drops to $25 each but then I’m forced to buying 9 mm and 11 mm in some specialty socket I will only rare use in common sizes and will never use in 9 and 11. But they can’t win because if they sell 8 10 12 13 14 set the no skips police go after them. But if they sold that set at $25 each with the good sizes it would be a nice price. I did the math and I’d be paying only like $5 for 9 mm and 11 mm by buying the set instead of spending $35 on individuals of the useful sizes.
anyways wondering what of there stuff I should snag at their 20% Xmas sale buying direct so I keep the warranty.
