Temporarily posting pics. I'm using this thread to hold uploaded pics to reference in PM discussions mostly, as you cannot include pics in PMs like you do regular posts. I'm saving the pics as I find them useful in discussions from time to time in various threads.

Deleted badly sized pics and re posted in post below. PM is old and has been deleted anyhow.

Adding more pics to reference in a discussion with someone in a PM.

PM's don't allow pics to be uploaded to them like regular posts, so I upload here and post img links to them in the PM.

DPDT switch wiring for Powering one circuit when switch is both up and down, and another circuit when switch is down only. (or up, depending on which terminal you use or don't use).

Posting pics for a PM discussion on my Portable Gantry crane.

Notes not included in drawing: Vertical riser has 10 ea 1-1/16" holes spaced 6 inches apart (5 ft of adjustment)

Dimensions do not include the casters, as they are a variable.

Forgot to include top plate width or clamp plate dimensions. Top plate is 7 wide and 15 long 1/4 plate. Clamp plates are 3x15 each and are 3/8" thick. Square spacer is welded to clamp plates and is ½x½ stock. Use grade 8 bolts ½-13 with flanged nuts.

I beam is 8 in tall, 1/4 " web and 4" flanges, American Standard 8 x 18.4 beam. This beam is 12 ft long. most of this same design are now 15 ft with this beam.

Tubing all appears to be 3/16 thick wall.

You can probably buy one of these cheaper than you can make it, unless you happen to have the materials already.

Searches for "portable gantry crane" will bring up the sites for Wallace and several others, who make this same design.

You want this as tall as possible, ceiling in shop permitting, as you have the trolley and hoist hanging from it and you don't want that stuff bumping you in the head.

Storing what will become a series of FAQ posts here............................

Desa International was the manufacturer of

Reddy
Master
Koehring
Knipco
Amoco
John Deere
Dayton- older American made models only
Queen Bee
Co-op
and many private label brands

Desa international filed bankruptcy in December 2008 and is no longer in business.

http://www.desatech.com/ is an information site for products manufactured by Desa prior to 2009. This site has owner’s manuals and tech tips that were written by Desa prior to their bankruptcy. You can also find links to purchase parts for Desa product.

www.reddyparts.com is a source of parts for heaters manufactured in the US by Desa International, and also has valuable troubleshooting and servicing information, parts lists for all models, and necessary tools such as the low pressure air gauge for setting the air pressure from the pump (heater will not work properly if the air pressure is not correct).
