Any ideas on how to roll up a temporary divider curtain in a shop? Would like to keep it simple and cheap.

sberry, do the curtains automatically roll up when you pull the string or do you have to twist the roll as you pull them up? It seems like the plastic would just bunch up at the tube when you go to raise them. Either way, that is pretty ingenious!

That's exactly what I am thinking about. Can you give me the particulars on the roll up system?

Ok. The fundamental is a roll of 8 mil plastic I thought I would have to replace, havnt yet, over 15 yrs. I went out to the pipe pile and found a 40 ft 5 inch alum irrigation pipe that was super straight. I didn't want a splice in the middle, the ropes simply go under and are tied to the ceiling and the roll tumbles or rolls up[ with a simple boat winch.
I have since reduced my fan speed, something I should have done earlier as this clears very well. I left the overhead on the end open, this is the warm air from above that enters and gives a downdraft. All above and out of the way when not needed.

Can wheel in and out from side. The end wall is so light I didn't even use a winch, simply pull rope by hand.

I put a reel/reg/filter just for paint guns. I have a big paint pot but like the knockoff cheap 2 qt better. The open man door in my building is about the perfect air inlet, can have the heat running wide open in the shop side.
nine, it rolls up perfect, I tighten all the slack out first and its easy. I get all ready, let curtain down turn on fan and spray. You can see in one of the top pics, nice and smooth.

Google either greenhouse 'roll up wall' or look at poultry our cattle barn systems.
There are thousands of proven systems available to buy or copy.
Most of the greenhouse systems use a tube in the middle of the wall with a pipe at the bottom to weigh it down, they then use a Somfy tube motor to do the wind up if you want it automated instead of manual.

This really clears well. I whipped it up when I was busy and really should have reduced the fan some as it would have saved some heat. I painted some big dump trucks, semi tractor in it and it really worked well. I am glad I didn't build something more dedicated etc, my paint goes in spurts and I use the space for winter parking mostly as there is floor drain in that part of the shop. The downdraft whooshes any dirt right out, I don't even really fuss over sweeping for paint. Having a long booth is good, I painted out a tractor and move stuff in behind the next day to paint, overspray on the intake end not a problem.
I simply duct taped the top of the long sheet to the roof purlin, had a little come loose about 10 yrs in, taped it again and is still fine.
A couple of these I painted the whole tractor parts and all in one shot. Booth is about 39 ft long and 15=16 ft wide.
