My cousin (whom I love like a brother... OK maybe a brother-in-law) is my heat guy. He has drug his feet all summer and it's now December. My garage is down to 47 f.

I am looking for a way to temporarily heat my 26x40 while waiting for him to get the in floor up and running. I don't want my beer to freeze.

I am fully insulated and only am looking to keep it at 50.

What do you guys suggest? (besides kicking the cousin in the ***)

I am trying to avoid pumping a bunch of moisture into the building so an unvented propane heater is not high on my list.

How about a couple of 120V electric "milkhouse" heaters? Try to plug them into separate circuits. Not that expensive and have numerous uses later on. Pushing it in a 26x40, however.

Maybe you could temporary wall off your beer fridge area with some tarps so you're only heating that area?

Heck, if you're just worried about your beer freezing, how about wiring up a 40W light bulb to burn constantly inside the fridge?

If your beer freees at 47 degrees you have bigger problems then your cousin.
My garage is attached, insulated, non heated. It never gets below low to mid 40's. Nothing has ever froze and I keep beer, bottled water, soda out there on shelves all winter.

Sure am glad I'm not paying that electric bill !

I saw an ad this morning for the Amish built fireplace mantel with electric heater / fireplace unit. Then I listened to the people say how this is such a great heater, It keeps our house and family so warm.
I really liked the guy who said I really feel I saved money on heating fuel. I am sure he did, but he most likely spent twice as much for his electricity usage. It cost the same to operate per day as a coffee maker. YAH Right, in your dreams. Go smoke another one!
A 1000 / 1500 watt heater is just that. I don't care who makes it, how it's made or how fancy a cabinet it comes in. They do indeed have their place, like a small bathroom etc. But for the most part. Plug it in and watch your meter spin.

Those heaters are a joke. We were discussing them yesterday at work. One of the guys mom has one. Eskimo farts are warmer!

I just bought one of those $30 sunflower looking propane heaters that goes on top of the bottle. My shop is similar sized and it kept it at 60 with 20 below winds raging outside.

Wait a minute... the Amish generally don't use electricity sooooo it makes sense that their heaters don't either...

I'm guessing those two little heaters I've been running cost me about $40.00 to heat my shop for two weeks... I shut one off at night and kicked the other one on when I was working out there. My shop has pretty good insulation... about R-25 in the walls (6" fiberglass batts plus 1" blueboard) and the ceiling is a hodgepodge of 12 to 18" fiberglass and blown cellulose.... I'll find out in a few weeks.

I used 2 of the oil filled radiant heaters to heat my 1300 SF house for several years when natural gas prices went nuts . They kept the house between 65 and 70 and the only thing I did diferant was run the blower motor on the furnace 24/7 to circulate the heat through the house .

I got a kick out of the ad for Amish heaters... in the picture it looks like the Amish guy is taking a hand plane to a finished heater!

When you call to order, make sure you call at the right time for your climate zone! :bounce:
