I really need more storage space ASAP. Funds are limited and my time is even more limited. I would love to stick build a 2-3 car detached garage however the funds aren't available to do it proper and likely won't be available for many more years. So in the interim, I am considering the purchase of a pre-built garage with the intent of eventually selling it to recover some the costs.

With that said, can anyone offer any advice (i.e. do's and dont's) for installing a pre-built 1-2 car garage and later replacing it with a 2-3 car stick build?

Doesn't really answer your question, but I had a friend who bought a single car pre-built garage, it came in preassembled pieces. He had it installed on an existing cement pad. It was delivered and erected in less than a day. He's had it for a couple years now, and is still quite happy with it. Sorry, I don't know the supplier. This was in central Illinois.

Don't ask.
There are places that offer prebuilt garages up to 16' wide, I'm not sure about maximum length if there is any. They delivered and set up is about a day. I belive they are pretty much stick built.

I would do the concrete for the size I wanted to end up with, then use concrete block for the stem wall under the wall that will go away when I enlarged it, that way they can be broken out and leave a floor with no seams.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

How should the base be constructed? And how can I ensure that the floor of the pre-built garage will be level with the existing blacktop driveway?
