I kept seeing this KATOOL tire machine, for $1,000! Looked up reviews on YouTube, and they seem great.

$85 extra for the motorcycle wheel attachment on Amazon.

I will mostly be using this for motorcycles, but I have seen videos where dudes do a 35" tire with no problem.

Will parts break? Probably. I am handy enough to fix them, and replace with better parts.

A video / pics will be posted once it comes in.

Most stuff is made in China nowadays anyway (or are no brand copies of genuine tools like Makita) and Temu just seems to be a place where a lot of manufacturers sell direct to the public.
It probably looks identical to a high end brand US made tool for a lot less money. Can't say how long it'll last though.

Even though I have access to a machine, I do motorcycle tires by hand, They are just that easy. I have had good luck with Temu for a number of things. But the Knives are extremely accurate copies of quality names but with lousy steel.

Thanks.

It's at a local warehouse, no tariffs.

If something breaks, I'll fix it with a higher quality part from McMaster-Carr.

I'm usually hesitant of purchases like this. BUT, I've seen so many videos on this one, and nothing bad. It's like buying something from HF. You gotta fix it up a little bit.

Tire machine showed up in 3 freaking days!

How it showed up on the pallet lol....

IMG_7020.JPG

Out of the crate.

IMG_7021.JPG
IMG_7022.JPG

All put together and tested a Jeep tire.

IMG_7030.JPG

Final thoughts:

Overall, can't beat it for the price. Works way better than expected.

There is a learning curve to using it. I'm sure I will get faster over time.

The instructions are pure ****. It came with a bead seating hose (won't use it), and a tire inflating gauge/ hose, wont use that either. Looks cheap and will break.

The clamps are very strong, and so is the 120v motor that spins the wheel. The bead breaker works great as well.

Would I buy again? YES. So much so, I am buying the matching wheel balancer.

I am waiting on the motorcycle clamps before I try a motorcycle wheel. The balancer also can be used for motorcycle tire with extra attachment.

How was your experience with Temu? I am looking at a KATOOL LIFT. The price delivered on Temu beats the KATOOL website price. Not sure how that works?

Manufacturers generally want their resellers to continue selling and will encourage clients to buy from said resellers, instead of direct. This ensures the reseller feels like its a beneficial partnership

I've never purchased from Temu but my son in law is a Temu professional - lol. He's had both extremes when it comes to good or bad purchases on Temu. The worst was when he bought a couch and love seat. When it arrived, it could fit in a shoe box - lol. He's much more careful reading the item descriptions now - lol. He does say, however, that Temu has an incredible return policy - for whatever that's worth.

They have the price marked up higher? :dunno:

Purchased a few things from Temu. got baited once, but it was on a $5 DMM The "fine print" listed a different model number.

Just got one of these. Seems to be the real deal, at least for measuring AC/DC amps with the clamp. (have not tried other functions)

This is all new to me. I was looking on Alibaba for a tire changer and found this one. It was my first purchase on Temu.

They said it was shipped, didn't really give me any tracking details. Just showed up 3 days later.

They did reach out and ask if I needed a lift gate. Didn't charge me extra.

I posted this on Reddit, and the feedback I got was so many people wanted to take the plunge and wouldn't because.... Temu. I said screw it. Since I paid with AMEX, I wasn't worried about it. I knew I could get my money back if I got screwed.

I didn't. 10/10 would buy again.

And listen, if I got robbed and it was junk, I would say so.

In it's final resting place. I will be adding castors. Everything in my garage has to have wheels.

IMG_7033.JPG
Looks great! I'd think twice about adding wheels though.... you really dont want the machine to move while working on a wheel assembly. Adding wheels, irrespective of wheel locks, make the machine "tippy". You really should bolt it to the floor. The same is true with your balancing machine you've ordered.

How much space does it take up (sq ft), and how much does it weigh (out of box)?

Is there a way to change the parts that hold the rim in place so they don't damage the barrel of the rim?

You can clamp inside or outside & has plastic caps that work well. I've done a few aluminum rims with zero scratches, unlike what happens at a tire shop. I will add I cover the face of the rim in case something slips.

Plastic Rim protectors can be purchased but they generally only last for several dozen rims before one of them break.

As long as you clamp from the outside, and hold the rim flat and steady while clamping (so that the rim doesnt ride up on a jaw), its usually fine.

Fyi.. Clamping on the inside will result in indentations being made.

It comes with plastic rim protectors. As long as you clamp the outside of the rim, not the inside.

It's probably about 3ft wide with the bead breaker fully extended.

If you are a full time tire shop, this is not for you. But, if you, like me changing 20-50 wheels a year - the price will pay for itself. I go through at least 6 sets of motorcycle tires a year. Then add on top of that, rotating your tires / re-balancing twice a year for at least two vehicles.

Myself, I have 2 motorcycles, a Jeep (once a year for rotating), my regular truck, and my wife's car. For me, personally, it's worth doing my self than sitting for a few hours waiting on. a dealership / tire shop to rotate and balance wheels / tires.

The TIME ALONE saved by doing myself over a span of a year, the machines will pay for itself.

Also, my friends and neighbors already know that I have a tire machine. I won't charge $$$ for changing / balancing wheels. BUT, I will get a lot of cases of beer. Which is fine for me.

That looks exactly like my Atlas machine

Reddit is a cesspool anyways. This is why i favor independent forums.

Depending on the weight of the machine, retractable casters could be an option.

If I can't find a used name brand, I'll probably end up with one of these + the balancer.

I wouldn't rely on them to have your back.

I haven't had to change any stiff sidewall tires yet. I did replace my TPMS sensors on my box truck. It has 16" steel wheels / 10 ply tires. It handled it with no problem. I haven't ordered the balancer yet. Going on a trip next month. After that, I will order it.

The main reason I bought this is because I want to change motorcycle tires, but the balancer will let me do a lot more. I am waiting on the motorcycle wheel attachment to come in. It's already been ordered.

I love the feedback on this forum. If you wanna **** on me about buying this, for whatever reason, that's fine. I didn't have to broadcast my purchase to the entire internet without getting different feedback.

Right now, I think it's a good purchase. Time will tell tho.

I wonder how wide of wheels it could handle. I have 20x12 on the back of a car that I’d love to be able to do myself.

My atlas which looks similar but blue has done 38x12.5r20 tires. Never measured the rim width but had to be close to 12.

Don't think 5 bucks would even cover the new valve stem and wheel weights. I keep a bunch of common valve stems for all the different tpms sensors. Most of those are 2-3 dollars each plus a buck or so for wheel weights. And lubes and chemicals. If you're doing favors for these people 5 dollars is fine but I learned real fast you become very popular when you get a tire machine. I charge 20 to 25 dollars per tire to mount and balance unless you have done a favor for me ot I'm doing a favor for you for whatever reason. I used to charge pennies like that but got tired of being taken advantage of. Me spending my money on this the machines and tools and all the accessories while others were buying nice things and going on nice vacations but yet wanting everything for next to nothing.

I did not supply valve stems if they wanted new they brought new I have a friend is cheapest guy around he would buy tires at the local pick a part and didn't care about tire date code or same brand tire didn't really care as long as the tire size was close as long as the rim size was same. It was nice for pocket money. Also he knew not to stop and wanted them done while he waited.

Personally 5 dollars isn't worth it to me to be doing sketchy work for others like putting on used out of date tires. I fired "friends" like that a long time ago. Cheap asses like that are the same people that will blame you when something goes wrong.

If it's non TPMS valve stems they're cheap. $5 a tire should easily cover everything. If a lot of people were coming to me regularely to change tires I'd be charging more than that because it's not worth my time, if it's only friends I'd probably be charging less depending on who they are and how regularely they're bugging you.

You should be buying your valve stems and wheel weights in bulk. This reduces the per peice cost to roughly 25 cents. I recall running the numbers at one point and my average materials cost for passenger tires (bead lube, bead sealer, new valves, wheel weight) was $1.45 per wheel assembly.

Of course, that was just materials cost and did not factor in electricity, property taxes, insurance, machine wear and tear, my time, etc.

Still, at $5 per wheel you're not losing money IF you buy your supplies in bulk from a wholesaler.
