Love it! Beautiful planes and plans. I especially love that 'coupe! Planes of that era are so "right" in my mind.

I look forward to building my own hangar some day...

The door is a variation of the old home made kit door called the "Ultimate Door". Works much like the garage doors of the late '40's and early '50's. Looks like it could be made to seal rather tightly.

I have Horton Stack doors, 14 ft high, 56 ft framed opening with 53 ft available when open. Don't get me wrong, I like them, but you cannot make them seal tight at the bottom. I have to be careful to make sure all the seals fold out flat and seal to the cement properly or it leaves gaps. I do like being able to open just part of them.

These Higher Power doors look like they use automobile two post lift cylinders, tall and skinny.

Thanks, I wanted something that looked like it belonged there and something a little "old timey" looking also. I've got a couple of lubsters that I'd like to restore and really like the color schemes dome of the guys on here have done with their Texaco stations, so those colors were also part of the inspiration and I may put up a little bit of exterior signage. I'll also have some fun with interior colors when I get to that point.

Thats a nice looking hangar AeroCraftsman. I too am going through permit to build a 100x100 hangar. I chose to use Higher Power Doors because my friend has one. Very good doors.

Higher Power Doors are manufactured out of Michigan, but it might be useful to know that a hangar manufacturer in Florida builds those Higher Power Doors under license. You could save a lot of money on freight and there lead times are less.

No big progress lately. Got water run, driveway installed, electric conduit buried. Getting some quotes for polishing and sealing the floor.
On second thought, that's pretty good progress.
Still about 2 weeks out for the door delivery.

From here, the taxi way looks like it might need a chainsaw to use it. Or, is the runway the other side of the pond?

The taxiway is fine, a little bit of tree canopy in a couple of spots but no problem with planes the size of mine. And yes, the runway is the other side of the pond.

Very interesting...will be watching this thread. Have a friend with an RV-4 and needs to do something similar, but smaller.

I was gonna ask that question when I first opened this thread today. Love the structure. I work in the industry as well and volunteer my services to a local museum of transportation.

We are hoping Gulfstream will give us some support towards a part 147 repair school.

Sweet memories.

I started my early flying lessons at a place called Sierra Sky Park. It is located in central California and was one of the very first residential airports in the country. The concept has grown so much over the years. You have a great build going and I will definitely enjoy this trip thru the photos and stories you provide. And, California in your rear view mirror is a very good thing. Wish I was on the same trip.
