So here is a friends spare stator cover before. Mind you this is the one in better shape, the one on the bike looks WAY worse.

This is the first time I have ever powder coated anything. I didn't even have the oven hooked up till tonight.

I media blasted the part with aluminum oxide, sprayed it off with air, then it went right on to powder coating.

I am pretty pleased with it for being my first part and all...

Cool, I have the HF gun, caswell plating has a good PC forum, from there I found out about taking that piece of plastic off the tip of the gun, works better that way. I'm looking to upgrade to a gun in the $400 range, getting a good amount of the ricer drivers asking me to PC stuff for them.

What gun are you looking to get?

Holy **** that plastic cone was ******* me off big time tonight! Do I leave the little metal rod in there or do I take that sucker out as well?

I was thinking about getting caswell's high voltage gun; this one

Do you know what the consensus is on that gun?

Leave the metal rod, just take off that stupid plastic piece. I'm probably going to get Caswells HV gun if I can't find a used production type gun on ebay, I'm pretty sure its the same gun basically, I like Caswells because their support is really good, they dont want someone complaining in their forums about a bad product so they handle issues fast. HF has/had a lot of powder cheap, Caswell also has a good amount of buy one get one free type deals. The wrinkle black is pretty cool.

If you look on Caswells site you can see what some guys are doing with PC, absolutely amazing stuff.

Caswells also has a great oven building forum, Ill send you some pics of my oven when its done, just got done building the control panel, used a PID and a thermocouple to control my heat.

I will be taking off that piece ASAP!

Yea Caswell is where I got turned on to PC. I already ordered some crinkle black when I ordered the black oxide after being influenced by someone on here :lol_hitti
Have you got any links to what you are talking about that others are doing?

I trips me out but the Caswell gun looks exactly like the HF gun, however if they really do get 50k out of it, it should attract the powder much better. I also really like that it looks like all the cables are detachable on the Caswell piece.

Dude I'm seriously going to have to take a little drive and see your toy cough I meant tools. What kinda beer ya like ? :)

Very nicely done! If I had a PC setup, you'd probably find powder coated pieces in the strangest places... :D

With so many people getting the PC gear, makes me think prices for PC are going to drop. Better to find a good local guy with the best gear, and pay him to PC your stuff, or is it really practical to buy the gear and DIY?

Its one of those things that just neat to do. I could save a lot of money and time if i sourced out all my stuff. I may spend hours making a part but i enjoy it when the end result was done by me.
Caswell forums are great.

There will always be a premium for good work. I however like doing everything myself. I just really take pride in it. Then there is the fact that there is a LOT of things I want to PC on my projects and the economics of it would have gotten out of hand really fast if I didn't learn how to do it myself.

Wrinkle is in, however with the new director position at work, free time is not something I have a lot of these days. But I will let ya know. What parts did you need done?
