Does anyone have the Terratek 6" bench grinder? I plan on purchasing one for blade sharpening as I am starting my own blacksmith shop. Will it get the job done and continue to produce good quality? Thanks!

it is 3450 rpm. Is that too fast or is that good. Understand that I have no prior knowledge about this! Thanks

I don't know anything about that grinder, but I did a quick search and it looks to be a high speed chinese grinder and as already stated you don't want to burn your tool steel.

Pick up a Tormek grinder (look at used or e-bay) it will move slowly in a bath of water and you will not burn up that tool steel.

I seem to recall seeing used grinders on cl that you could slow the speed down,if you pick up a friable type grinding wheel that might help you more then the terratek grinder.

The knifemakers tend to use 2" belt grinders and not wheels. The Belt keeps cooler and allows a lot more material removal faster.

I don't have a dremel and the guy at my local ace said that a dremel would work. Any thoughts on this?

Not sure what blades you plan on sharpening, but based on these comments, I would say no...

Care to give a much better outline of what you are trying to accomplish?
