Test 3ph 220v tool in Kansas City

Hello GJ,

I recently picked up a Blum Minipress MSP. (A woodworking tool for boring a variety of hinge and hole patterns in cabinet making) I picked up this tool for an extreme discount not knowing if it will turn on as I was unable to test it at time of purchase since it is 3-phase. I will be purchasing an American Rotary phase converter to run this machine.

My ask to anyone reading this: Are you located in the Kansas City metro area? Do you have access to 220v 3ph power or know anyone who does? Or, do you own a rotary phase converter that will work with a 220v 3ph 1HP machine?

I'm trying to find a way to test the operation of the minipress before I purchase a $600+ RPC without much of an option to return it if I end up not needing it. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I am happy to pay you for your electricity, time, etc.

Is it really 220v? Or is it 240v? There is no 220v in the US.

Blum's nomenclature on machine is 3x220, but yes, 240v

There's a lot of equipment out there with nameplates that say 220V 3ph 60hz or 230V 3 ph 60hz.......even newer stuff. I know it's not "right" technically, but does exist.

Is it 208v (ie 120/208v). The rating may be the maximum not the type of service.

Can we second guess your rotary phase converter choice?

If you are planning on 10 three phase machines great choice.

If this will be the only three phase machine or you want to be able to change the speed of the motor by twisting a knob a Variable Frequency Drive will cost less, work better, take of less floor space and be quieter.

American Rotary sells a 2 HP VFD for $315 no name Chinese stuff for half that.
