Testing a electric motor?

I have a couple of industrial type fans that don't work (15"). They seem to be getting power and checked the rotor with a ohm meter and I think it's good. How do you field check a electric motor?

I realize they probable aren't worth fiddling with but would like the experience.

Have u checked the resistance between the windings?

If voltage is getting to the motor and its not spinning the motor is shot. make sure its not a problem with the switch before you condemn the motor.

If the motor just hums it could be bound up and need to be cleaned and lubricated.

Depending on the type of motor, it could be a bad capacitor. I got a really nice Baldor 1.5 hp motor for the price of a $5 capacitor. 20 years later, it's still spinning my compressor.

That is a pretty generic fan motor.
Typically they fail due to lack of lubrication and the core rubbing the barrel.

Check your mounting dimensions and the check these guys.
They are pretty good on motors.
If you don't see it online call them.
Sometimes they small amounts of inventory that doesn’t make the quantity cut for listing.

I have also had some luck swapping, mixing and matching cores to get a good motor When one shows to much rubbing for saving.
