Hi All,

I'm trying to trouble shoot a no-spark scenario on an older (1997) pull start Ski-Doo. The ignition generator coil and and trigger test within spec for resistance but the voltage looks off. On the trigger, I'm getting a reading of .166VAC volts where the spec is 7-9VAC. The generator shows an increasing reading then almost immediately goes to 0L on my auto-ranging meter when I pull the cord. I don't have an option to manually set the range. My question is whether this appears to be an issue with the stator or the meter.

Thanks in advance!

Its hard to bench test a stator, it can test good and be bad and bad and be good, if other things are pointing to stator issue I would swap it for a OEM used or New or a quality aftermarket ( Ricky Stator or Blaine, Both can be found with a search )

I had a similar issue a couple years ago. I had an electrical issue on my snowmobile and I suspected it was the stator. I found a schematic for a milliohm adapter that I used to measure the resistance of each coil on the stator very accurately. Each one was within spec, but the voltage would drop from 14v to about 6v after the engine ran for about a minute. Long story short... I replaced the stator and the problem went away.
