Texas Bunny Ranch

I have lurked long enough.

Here are some pictures of my shop.

This thing started out on paper at 60x40. Enough room to have an office, bathroom, shower and hold two cars and a boat. Got quotes from builders and were very happy with the numbers.

I found a local guy who does great metal building work and 'we' talked me into 100x80x16. I talked more with the significant other, and we finally decided on 100x80x18 so I could do an apartment/play room upstairs. Just before I signed the contract, the builder hit me with a price on 125x80x18 with 1" spray foam. Didn't figure the significant other owned a tape measure more than 50' so I went for it.....and that is when the "Bunny Ranch" was conceived.

In the past 4 years, my racing buddy and myself have put thousands of hours on the inside making our dream shop.

Here are some of the dimensions.

Building A : 125x80x18 clear span with 1" foam insulation
Addition A.1: 60x30 covered awning in the back with full sides,
Addition A.2: 60x40 lean to building on the front with windows on the north,
Addition A.3: 30x30 enclosed 'tractor' shed on the north with garage door,
Building B : 100x40 separate building in back for parking toys,
Addition B.1: 80x30 covered awing in back of to park trailers and farm stuff,
Addition A.4: (in progress) two full bays on south end of main building,

We are concentrating on getting countertops in next weekend but progress is slow.

I cleaned up the inside last week and expect to take some pics this weekend.

We call the thing "Bunny Ranch" and we have had a lot of fun buiding the thing and having get togethers with adult beverages.

Sorry if the pictures are not the best as the Nikon needs a good cleaning.

Onething,

I raced twice last year in BMod. Eddie and I did drift Adam's Honda 250 4 wheeler in the main building before we started on the inside.

I am going to have a New Years blow out in 2012 and I think Tommy may even cancel his normal day after party.

Inside pictures coming when I figure out how to get them off the iPad.

No business...just play.

We have 25 acres with a stock tank (Texas term for pond). A couple of years ago the boy and I started 4-wheeling and discovered the Polaris RZR.

Since then we have got two more 900s and setup a 2-3 minute rally-cross with cones. If it rains, we have a pure blast. If it doesn't then get ready to eat dirt.

I did a bunch of pics today so lets start with the new addition.

Texas Bunny Ranch - Interior Pics

The main building faces east so I have tried to label each pic with the direction I am generally shooting.

The 125x80 (soon to be 165x80) main building is setup with five 80x25 bays.

The 50x80 area on the north has two stories with shops below and an apartment above.

The following pics are of the main shop area. You can see the second story apartment in the 4th pic.

I know everybody always say's there is no such thing as too big of a shop BUT you may have punched a hole in that theory. I see a lot of empty space, what could you possibly need that much space for? Disclaimer; I am jealous :) How many SF total under roof do you have?

Here is pics of what we call the clean room.

It is a 50x25 bay and 16x30 area that has A/C and all the tools. No changing oil or welding in here, just basic mechanical work.

Note, the womens restroom ended up 1/2" wider....we claim it was an accident.

Need???...I still have a 60x50 hanger up the road filled to the brim. Bridgeport mill, lathe, boat, 68 Camaro, etc.

I am keeping this place as clean as possible and moving in slowly. We are going to be full time RVers in 5 years and will sell the current house and use this as home base between trips.

I have been lurking and seeing all the super great shops on this site and I thought it was time to 'expose' all my issues including unfinished projects.

The thing got a little out of control due to planning mistakes such as the front 'game room' that started out as a race car storage area. I could not efficiently part more than 4 cars in the 60x40 with a center door without getting jacks out and reposiition. So the garage became a game room and we built the second building to store cars, 4 wheelers, etc.

Building A 16,360 + 1,800 covered parking
Building B 4,000 + 2,400 covered parking

Holy cow! You my friend have given me the encouragement to look further into steel buildings with all of the home amenities you've built inside there.

That's an incredible amount of space - I'm very jealous. Post more pics!!

Wow, looks to be a manufacturing plant from the outside! INSANELY HUGE! I wish I just have 1/10th of that space and I will call that my dream garage! Looks very nice, speechless. :rocker:
