Hey Guys
I've got the drywall guy here and he working on the walls in the new garage. He wants to know if I want textured walls out there. What do you guys think? He said I shouldn't put swerels or dasies on the ceiling because it will catch cobwebs and dirt. I need your advice.
Thanks
Mike

Texture = awful. Don't waste your time. Terrible to try to match if making patches and horrible to keep clean. I refer to it as a "hiding finish" in homes for when people screwed up and got lazy and need to hide something. Plus it's a pain to sand down/strip later.

Finish smooth, and after primer, roll on High gloss with a thick nap roller; The thick nap give you just a hint of a stipple finish. I did that to my garage walls some 25 years ago and the paint is still holding up, and its an easy clean if you splatter something on it.

No more than what little texture shows up after rolling on the paint.

Ditto...

When I did mine...I also used the heavy nap roller for the primer.

It gives just enough texture to not show up all the defects....but not so much as too collect dirt.

Also...I used high gloss exterior paint....it is easier to blow the dust off it vs non-gloss

NO texture in the garage. It gives thousands of "shelves" for dirt and dust to settle on.

Texture just captures dust, which is another advantage of sheet rock over OSB. You can't do a smooth finish on OSB, and you can on sheet rock.

The way that Outlaw described is great but make sure your drywaller does a good job. Level 4 or 5 on the walls. The high gloss paint will show every imperfection in your drywallers work.
