Hi all,
Just a quick thanks to everyone for their suggestions and advice in restoring this vise. Several people wanted to see finished photos so here you go!
It is complete in time to gift to my Dad for Christmas so I hope he enjoys unwrapping it!
Restoration Details:
- Vise: Parkinsons Perfect Vise 15 (English Circa 1935)
Processes:
- Disassemble and clean with hot water, soap and degreaser
- Paint stripped with chemical stripper
- Steel wool clean-up
- Wire wheel to remove rust
- Oxide Primer
- Paint – Mid Grey Machine Enamel x2 coats
I wanted to keep original scratches and dents where possible but this vise will be heavily used so I decided enamel paint was a more practical solution for the main body.
Thanks again for all of your help. This is my first full tool restoration and couldn’t have been done without your suggestions and help!
Rob
