Just want to say thanks to those of you who do HVAC for a living "and" do late night/weekend/holiday on-call service.

Friday evening we were cleaning up around the house getting ready for a July 4th weekend visit from my son (south Ga., very hot/humid). He is in the Marines and coming home on liberty. Needless to say we were very excited to get everything ready for our visit. As I was cleaning the pool I walked by the a/c unit and heard a buzzing sound but no fan operation. Friday evening, 6 p.m., July 4th weekend.......oh **** :shocking:. Called several a/c companies, only 1 called me back. This guy drove 35 miles after just getting home from work.....troubleshot the issue to a capacitor (had one on the truck), checked the servicing, done by 7:30 p.m.

He let me know right up front his company policy and charges. Due to the circumstances I would have paid him double "and" went to pick him up. Because he was very nice, really quick, and made the long drive after working in 100 degree temps all day I gave hime a really good cash tip. I know his service was more a reflection on him, and subsequently his company.

Anyway, thanks. This company will get my call every time from now on. What appeared to be a very easy fix for him could have been a miserable weekend for us, especially with my Marine coming home to visit. Momma's happy :)

As my grandpa used to say........ "You pay them for how much they know, not how much they do"

Rosco thank you for the thank you " instead of another rant on being raped by the ACman /plumber/electrician " :D. I am running all weekend myself and dont charge " special rates " just due to the fact its a weekend or a Holiday .

Also tell your Son thank you from us for serving his country for little money and less thanks .

We have one that's around 50 miles away we prefer. They do great work and are pretty fare on price. My dad did the work when I was growing up, I could do the freon stuff but hated electrical, which is usually ends up a capacitor. I discharged one as a kid he used for a ''helper'' one and I guess it burned me on the electrical side. It's generally a hot thankless job with nice people far and few between. I know he appreciated your kindness and especially the tip.

Your a great customer to have, pay your bill and giving a tip is very uncommon these days.
I get tips on a/c jobs. Never anything else.

I like your grampas saying.
I cant tell you how many times i get the " i wish i made 100 bucks an hour" and i say, " yah me too, idiot".
