you all know what bag i am talking about!! its not your bag but its the bag that comes on saws and sanders.

yes i am talking about that bag that comes on you compound miter saw that is supposed to catch the saw dust but you have never cleaned out but have swept up the dust off the floor.

so whats up with this useless bag that they put on saws and sanders and other tools like this that don't catch anything. but they look good

The one on my DeWalt slide compound saw fills up until it is packed hard, but that is only half of the sawdust the saw produces.

we do the shopvac thing too. we use a craftsman switch that kicks on the vac when you trigger the saw.

While my Dewalt doesn't catch every bit of it, it does fill up fast so I do know it works to some extent.

Same here.
I know that if the bag isn't filling up, the neck got clogged. Poke it with a pencil a few times, and then the bag starts catching dust again.

The one on my <can't recall brand - Ryobi?> 1/4-sheet sander fills up pretty quickly as well. Even if it doesn't catch all the dust, it catches a fair amount of it and whatever it catches is that much less for me to clean up! :)

I don't use them in the shop but if I am using the saw in the house or "on site" I figure that every handful of sawdust that the bag catches is a handful that does not end up on the floor (regardless of the percentage). They are far from perfect but at least the one on my old DeWalt 12" miter saw catches a bit of the mess.

I either use the saw outside or when in the house ,I connect the Sopvac to it instead of the dust bag.

Wow you're right! I took a pencil and poked holes in all the bags and they work much better now.

I bought a tiny shopvac ($20) that fits on the table and the hose end fits perfect in my compound miter saw. As long as I remember to turn it on, it works well for getting all the dust.

My miter saw bag doesn't get full because the shreads of wood plug the hole on the saw frame. My belt sander bags do get full. I also have a sander with a filter box that is pretty much worthless. Sorry sacks.
