Below 265 SQ/FT The 30ft x 20ft German Car Cave

Image has measurements of 40ft x 30ft. I was being optimistic.
So I went for 30ft x 20ft. To avoid potential for divorce.



First we had to move this wooden 12ft x 10ft shed. It was just too handy and in too good condition to dispose of. Besides. It will hold a lot of household stuff and garden stuff I’d like NOT to end up in the garage.









Started digging out and putting in some fill after levelling out.

Got the steel frame up.



After that long day, I just Had to park the daily driver in there too see how things measured up. Not too bad.



Got some sheeting done. Nice to have some shelter at last.



Got the floor in. Power floated. It was a busy day. Forgot to get a few pics. Two more of the fleet parked in there a week or so later.



Getting crowded in there now. Haha.







Made a Faux Hazet bench out of old scrap steel and sheets of plywood I had laying around. Painted them up in Hazet colours. To match my Assistent addiction.

Two of the long term residents parked outside for a spell. Got a new addition to the garage. Busy installing it.



A four post lift.
What a Godsend.



It’s a little tight up there.
May need to alter those timbers. Or raise the roof a few inches.

The garage serves my purposes perfectly. It’s so great to have a nice workspace. I will have to raise the roof timbers up six inches or so. As the old VW bus is the long term resident of the garage. Only right that it should live up top. I can’t get the other cars under it unless increase my roof height. Currently. The splitty is stored nearest the entrance door and neither on the lift nor under it. It’s still indoors and away from the elements, but it needs to be on the lift realistically. So, come springtime, I’ll modify the roof. It shouldn’t take much work or expense. Overall I’m delighted with the whole process. It’s so good to be in my own garage. The whole thing cost about €8,000. So not too bad really.
