Not really - but check this out..

I just picked this up the other day for the house, went back got a second camera today. I’m completely amazed at what you get for the price. All you need is a WiFi signal (has to be 2.4mh not 5) and a $25 camera to start. Everything else relays off the camera - but here’s the thing - you dont really need to use “the camera” if you dont want to. You can plug it in and just leave it sitting anywhere.
But the door/window sensors you can literally attach to anything. Doors, a fridge, the cookie jar to spy on your kids - or on the INSIDE of a toolbox drawer or hutch/top cover. You’ll get an immediate alert on your phone/tablet.. even better with a camera you can leave in a hutch and get a video of who just opened your ****.. and the video is sent right to your phone, or you can watch a live stream of the cam on ur phone also, from anywhere.

Cant remember how may times ive read about guys having a small fortune in tools and work in a place with no cameras or security system..

Its the Wyze kit - i never heard of it till the other day, so I’m betting I’m not alone.

Stater kit has camera, two door sensors, motion sensor - on sale for $40 now. You just need to add a micro sd card and you can continually record and loop days worth of videos. You can add like 100 sensors up to just one camera.

Camera alone is $25, with another model with pan/tilt/zoom that auto tracks for $37.. additional sensors can be bought also. Cameras can be set to detect motion, and alert you as soon as say the hutch door was open - and send you a video clip of what (who) tripped it.

So if you got an outlet and WiFi at work - you can basically put this thing on your tool box.. is friggin small.

I dunno - thought someone might like the idea of actually having something more than just insurance on tens of thousands of tools .. i think its a smart idea, maybe others wont..

I can't say enough about the Wyze cams. They're almost disposably cheap, but there are some inexpensive weatherprooof covers for them online that make them long term viable. The best part is free hosting for 12 second clips and the SD card storage.

I got 3 outdoor.housing kits with wall mounts for like $15 shipped. And now I don't think I'm even gonna bother putting them outside cause they do so well just looking out the windows.

If kctyphoon says its good and its not even made by Milwaukee, it must be good!

I just bought one, I'll grab it on my way to work and see what their all about. Seems like a good value, good reviews beyond GJ.

Just bought the $25 version to keep an eye on the dog while I am out.

Hardest part of the setup was going back and logging everything in after I updated my router security!

I recommend the wyze products as well. I have cameras, plugs, bulbs, etc. They are wonderful. It has been awhile since I have been surprised by a product. I also use them through Google home. Turn lights on or off anytime I want with the app. Can't beat the value.

The cameras actually have 2 way audio too. It's not that good - but you could manage I guess. Sure confused the dog enough..

It's really the value for what your getting, and the app just makes it too easy to not get interested in the things. For anyone looking - you can get outdoor housings and interior mounts REALLY cheap on Amazon. I just ordered 3 interior ones. It's basically just a little piece of plastic you can screw to a wall/whatever and slide the base of the cam Into. I think I'll be mounting mine on the top of some window frames, with the cam in the top corner of the window facing upside down. You can flip the camera image in the app.

Unless you know how to reformat sd cards to fat32, then just stick with the 32 gig cards. I'm reading people have gotten up to 128gb cards to work by reformatting in the computer, then doing it again in the camera itself - but I haven't bothered to learn how to do that yet. I bought a Samsung 128 hoping it would just work (that I'd get lucky) but no dice.. ordered 32gb to make life easy for now.

Is this battery or plug in? If battery, how long do they last?

The camera needs to be plugged in. It's comes with a cell phone type charger - 110v to USB, then the power cord is USB to micro USB. If you had a outlet with a USB out - you could plug it into that. Longer cords are available up to like 45' on Amazon - and additional cameras can be Daisy chained off the first.

The wireless sensors for doors/whatever or motion detector - are completely wireless - and they claim the battery will last up to a year (I'm sure that depends on use). The app should let you know when their power gets low. They use those watch style batteries.

That said - the sensors relay off the camera. The camera or cameras are like a hub. So the sensors can be a room or two away from the camera location. So hypothetically - you could mount a camera overlooking a room - set the camera to alert you when it detects a person (not just motion, it has a "person" setting). The. Use the door sensors to also alert if anything gets opened - door/drawer/window/toolbox/cookie jar..

All alerts are pushed as notifications to your phone. (Same as Facebook notifications). Push the button it'll tell you what door/window was opened, when it was closed. Send a 12 sec video "event" clip of whatever tripped the camera - meanwhile the cam is continuously recording (if u want) and rewriting over video from days ago (depending on card size).

What I telling you - is you can spend say $100 -$150 in total - and get a surveillance system you would have spend thousands on years ago. It's simple to set up, the app is as easy as watching YouTube videos. Or spend $25, and have a single camera. Spend $40 - have a cam, two door sensors , a motion detector, and there's in NO PAID SUBSCRIPTION.

Better still - you can give ANYONE access to it. So say u set up your house, go on vacation for a week - you can grant say your parents - in-laws access to the cameras and they will receive alerts on their phones if a door is open or any "event" happens.

Wyze sends your video, and audio to third party Chinese servers. No thanks.

While that may be true, there are some additional considerations. For example, Wyze cams only record clips to the internet when an "event" is detected. If you choose not to detect events, nothing will be recorded online. Everything will be stored locally on the camera. You can also choose to record video but not audio.

I realize those may be compromises for some, in which case this may not be the system for you. But considering the price and ease of use/installation, I don't know of something comparable apart from another Chinese made system that records to a local storage device but it's much more complicated to receive alerts on a mobile device from such a system.

Cheers!

And amazon has a 600 million dollar contract with the cia. Google was another DARPA project. (Hello Facebook) Why do you think theres been this pig push to have cameras and microphones in every ****** home on earth. The NSA collects ALL - regardless if its your home cameras, or chats on xbox - ALL - digital media and communication in the country..
They wanna stare at my driveway - go for it. Whatever your typing on likely has at least 2 cameras on it and a battery you can longer remove anyway. Your cable remotes have microphones now..

The only one NOT watching my **** at this point - is me.

Rant warning: Off topic for a sec (briefly). There has always been a battle between intelligence agencies for control/superiority. The NSA is at least mandated for domestic spy operations inside the USA. The difference is NSA is Military. People ultimately (most of them anyway) dedicated to protecting us. CIA is civilian (most people dont even realize that). Their mandate is only foreign spy operations (non-military). However, how would one evade domestic law and oversight? - simple. You push covert ops into the private sector (make it a company), - said company opens a headquarters on foreign soil (china), CIA can now (cough) “spy” in China. Information warfare. We lost our privacy long ago. They didnt take it. They made it cool, and we gave it away cause they didnt come out and say “all the big websites you use are successful because we make sure they are”.

Ok I’m done.. But if youd like to be able to actually benefit from another camera in your home - check out the Wyze kit. Just a thought.

Yeah I don't support any of those companies you listed so not sure what your point is. What I said still remains true and if you want to give your video and audio to the Chinese go for it.

I’m goin for it... while i understand your point, and will even agree there might be “some people” a place like China would love to target - with my being the average American idiot with no wealth, power, or elected/appointed government position - I’m betting “China” is not targeting my driveway.

I have 2 of the Wyze security cams and was considering buying another one. I may just get the starter kit to try out the other features. Right now it's $42 on Amazon.
