Ok second time at the money shot.
This time its staying this way. Wife new car is a 2000 Hyundai Elantra with 39000 org miles which was a one owner 92 year old woman who drove it to the grocery store and church on Sunday. Got it for a steal.

You can see with car in place I still have room for my cart and chair.

This is where years upon years of planning payoff. Keeping everything tight to the walls and all keeping it all same distance away from walls allows for nice paths around cars. The only issue is length truck but if in garage working I can roll truck a foot foward and keep screen closed makes it easier to walk around back of truck and better access to sink. I also can shift vehicles to left or right if needed for space. I'm very very happy to FINALLY get BOTH cars inside now its gonna take some work to keep it clean enough to do this everyday.

Wow, Two cars in and it still all looks usable.

Is there room behind the truck to get to and use the W/D?

Thank you, There is room to to use w/d. The Sport Trac is about 8" longer than the Ranger so gets alittle tight around fridge and sink area. I'm not as slim as I used to be so I can roll truck foward close to the screen and that gives me more room around sink and fridge.

Nice work. Still shocked how much stuff you have managed to meticulously place in your garage while still holding two vehicles.

Thank you, its tough work cramming that much stuff in there but somehow I did it. This is one reason I told you not to go crazy with new place. You find yourself running out of space real quick and then have to find all these hiding places to put stuff cause you ran out of room.

I gonna have to go through bins and attic and get rid of stuff soon. I I found myself collecting stuff for projects that now I just don't need so gonna reorganize and declunder the place. I usually do it once a year or so or when needed.

Good point, I could see how it could escalate rather quickly. I think the whole process of moving definitely helps to keep clutter and junk at bay, I've found at least. Thank goodness for me that this place came with a good amount of storage in the basement along with a quality shed for any outdoor equipment.

So you doubled the garage, have a basement, and a shed. YOU ****!!! Only thing we have in FL is a attic and garage. Its very very very rare to find a basement in FL. Garages down here if lucky you can fit cars in garage if don't have TOO much stuff. The attics down here are slim on space and if live in a HOA usually the don't allow sheds like mine. So all I have is a decent size attic to crawl around in and put some holiday stuff, camping gear, and some excess garage stuff along with those cabinets on side of house for my lawn tools and some other things. The HOA hasn't got on me yet cause I painted them color of house so they don't stick out.

I have what's considered a good size 2 car garage in FL being 20x22. Usually they are less and most 3 car garages down here never see 3 cars in them. We Floridians really have space issues with theses houses and storage space they offer.

Got some pics to show ya. In Feb when get my tax return buying the wife new W/D and that's going inside in new bathroom closet on opposite side of that wall. The riding lawn mower will come back home and fill that spot. Well that's the plan unless I sell it.

With the truck park back enough to close garage door.
b968f64cb500d06fa3295bb883660734.jpg

Its pretty tight there so I roll truck foward alittle.
eef55a86de2f28c5bf863f7f2d3376c3.jpg

Doing this allows enough room to move around behind the truck and to use side door.

Re: The 5 Stitches Garage 20 x 22 in FL

Funny story happen today. My neighbor walks over for a chat. I stop what I'm doing and grab a chair and he precedes to ask me

" how do you get this truck in here so perfectly"

I precede to show him the line on floor and my repositioned garage door sensors. I bring the door down to show him HOW close the door gets to truck. Then he asks

"well how room you got behind it."

I show him but roll the truck up alittle and show him

" See enough room to move around"

then I bust out laughing when he said this

" man your whole garage in a matter of inches and some places a half a inch"

I said
"your right Mr Eddie your right"

I showed him the "WALL OF CRAFTSMAN"

Said " see Eddie I need a 1/2 inch on the wall to be able to roll DP cart out.... Got a room stretcher"?

We both starting laughing and said some off color jokes.

I truly believe this house is going to drive me nuts over inchs. When I redid my Master Bathroom they moved a wall one inch to far so where everything is based on 60" my was 61" and trust me that one inch came up doing tile, backer board and drywall. So now in garage if I just had one inch it would solve my issues BUT I'm one inch short in garage LOL. This garage should be rename the garage of inches LOL.

Here's some of frustration.
When I did the extension on the work bench I planned for 3 26 craftsman rollers, the welding table, and DP. Ok math worked out did the extension. Then I brought home the 7 drawer. 29 inches? WTF Ok, when if take the flip of welding table it all fits. GREAT I'm happy again. Well, friend calls me finding another silver/ red 70 roller and made the deal with him. After all said and done now that 1 INCH is coming back to haunt me. Not only do I need 1 INCH to have room to roll stuff out but now the bench is 1inch short. WTF.

bff81d87b169fff9fd9d38d7c720a24e.jpg

f9be2cd086eff859583dafc300121c89.jpg

Problem is I really cant move bench down cause all the support are already moved when I shifted bench over before plus I really don't wanna move it into the walk way / doorway into the house anymore then already is. Yep that DAMN 1 INCH rears its ugly head again LOL.

I believe I can make this work if I remove any though of legs on each side of bench and make some HUGE *** L bracket supports from angle iron to support bench but once again I have to make them to fit tight spot..
be300d86fbe0be764cd69dc5b50a793d.jpg

You would think I would be done by now but these issues keep popping up.

Those pictures remind me that I was once right where you are putting two vehicles in the garage. I could also do like you are. Then, I bought the current Silverado extended and no way would it fit in the garage. I was glad, as that let me decide to go half shop and half garage. That let me do a whole lot more in the garage and even have a island bench. I have plenty of space for my car, and I let the Chev truck park outside. I thought I would never leave my beloved truck outside. I have had no issues there at all. Up north, it would not work, but here it is fine. I was really pleased the truck just would not fit in there.

Best of Luck

I would agree with that. It would be so much easier without them in here but I'm trying to keep them out of the elements as much as possible. Especially now that I got 2 good cars with good paint. Been bringing them in every night and right as we get home from work. Idk if the sun does the damage it does up by you but the FL sun is just brutal on these cars down here. My wife cars sits under a tree for some shade but mine is out in a lot near a tarmac from sunrise to about 5pm just baking. I have notice that not having the morning dew on it helps.

My black rangers hood and roof was so bad its now being sanded and repainted cause of the sun damage. My wife's old neon org was salsa red and after 10 plus years in sun it looked like 10 shades of that original color and we waxed it once a year.

All in all Im happy I got them in here at the trade off of garage ideas I really wanted. Compromise is name of game in this case.

Well, a small project today. I added some left over drawer I had to my little homemade cart.

680964293cd0fe856eb49767705366d2.jpg

Hopefully this should add some more usefulness to a cart which seem I always seem to use. I have not decided on a color yet. That's cause I really have not figured the DP cart. Well that if I'm going to stay with what I have it or not.
6d8c23cb6efb070e9195c186d61fe999.jpg

The DP is only thing I have to play with on the WALL of CRAFTSMAN. What I have now rolls ok and is sturdy but was thinking if build a new base with my 6 drawer chest then ill turn this mobile base into my service cart. Just some ideas I got in my head to better use parts and pieces I have to their fullness.

Re: The 5 Stitches Garage 20 x 22 in FL

Well, finally decided to keep the DP cart cause I found I safe place to put the welder.
bb23a06bff9d1fd0b7d425c8f0339b60.jpg

Of course I can't use it from there which was a thought I had but its safe and sound tucked away.

Ok onto today's project. I decided to do away with the MBC chest and put the craftsmans back where they belong. I did this before with some shelf brackets but it needed something better. I decided on a custom wall hanger.
My put together mobile cut grind area.
0619f2fd49b04382d37596537112ac02.jpg

Then forgot I didnt have my welding table. So workmate doubled as one.
842b5bba69c8bd7addd21e7f93678539.jpg

After cutting, grinding, and welding I came up with this.
29b81b99a377d0a46b642e2d22926ec6.jpg
dde864291c8cf219b6fec01315b3745f.jpg

Nothing great changed to .35 from .30 and was having issue dailing in machine plus didn't take all the prep time to do welds. I didn't want this to turn into all day affair. So results from welds so alittle. Well heres the holder on the wall.
2081b4c34620915034ea00c55c76992a.jpg

And with the box on it.
f1c740cdc9a915544cc514fcba56849e.jpg

I will paint it when I redo that chest.
If one thing I like is that I build it to fit most top chests so if I ever get that 9 drawer it should fit right in.
So kinda the final project done.
cb5cca3b8d60a11e8660b4504f6b4ece.jpg

Another day another couple small projects done.

Sticking with the theme of a working man's and working with what you got here's today's work.
Found a new home for the MBC chest on top of the fridge.
2961bb8cdd45a84bf76f37f1eeef0721.jpg

Good part is that I can still open attic door without hitting it. That left me with where do I put the fans I had there? One idea I always had is to put one in the corner by the water heater. Here's what I came up with.
29384cb8d98835b6fd5359ae07abea1b.jpg

Took old side of a cabinet I had and mounted it to trusses. Then I ran a butterfly bolt up through frame, through wood and drywall. I uses washers between frame and wood so it could pivot.
4b409c6b168fadbf15464fc8420b6c61.jpg

I was planning a paint job and new switch on this fan but would try to see if it works first. I have another cage and blade
6e85b50655527cff7cb4643bfc1212c1.jpg
.
9fbc2462291d4c4947bf96dfce5ee4d2.jpg

My thought was I would use a motor off a old band saw.
eb28bc7b576c1fb1cbd37a4c71ee3517.jpg

f05682efe5bf326fcdf5150bb9080b9d.jpg

It should work out nice once I make a plate to hold motor to cage cause holes don't line up.

Small little projects happening lately. I found better spot for the workbench airline.

This seems to work better cause seemed to get in way all the time. Its just up there with big hook I fabed from some aluminum pipe. Plus like this cause I can add my coil hose if needed.
800b318d496b90adb549171b88fa2911.jpg

Nothing crazy again but expanding my hook rack.
a397bf0c9ded43cef3e47fac8f171c63.jpg

28add4554a185e2d86ecda0f7cce83d3.jpg

I needed to get a longer 2x4 and more of that angle stuff. I plan to make it about foot longer or until I hit garage door support. The hooks I make myself from old welding rods. I really loving this stage of my garage. I have both cars in and doing small projects and tweaks to improve.

Thank you, Well it started off as a better way to do something with my string trimmers. Usually they hang from wall but that wouldn't work ( for my garage ). So found some 2x4 and that predrilled angle and it worked out. These are some pics from page one.

I just started using it for other things. Its pretty simple and easy to make. Only thing is make sure you arrange things behind it no don't use to often or can turn into a big PIA.

That fabricated bracket looks great. Gave me some ideas for a couple of tool boxes I have in my shop/shed. I like the set up of the chop saw and sander on the workmate.
You know how I am about quick set ups and mobility. You have a great sense of organization to make things handy and work well. Also like the drill press cart with the storage and things you put with it.

Great Job

Thank you Herb, much much kind words you always say about my projects. I'm really glad you enjoy them. The bracket ( for me in imo and my garage ) works better than a riser idea cause gives you almost full access below the box. I believe depending on the weight of the box it can be accomplished few different ways. I had some bed frame and just winged it. I thought of this as a universal bracket and not customizing it to one box. I thought if I find the 9 drawer craftsman or put the MBC back there that it would fit. Usually top chest tend to be about same width and depth just a height difference.

I do admit I love my old workmate. I've owned a few in my day but when uncluttered my garage I gave 2 away keeping the heaviest and sturdier one. I replaced the wood and made I filler piece for middle and it work well with only issue it that its heavy.

Working on and tuning up some of my lawn equipment today. I had my jawhorse out and thought I would share my setup. Got blower clapped down. With tool tray behind it.

I keep the tool tray in piece my some magnets. The blue is just some painters tape I use the to keep the painted parts nice.

With blower pack clapped down I bungee cord the hand controls and tube in place.

This setup allows me to work on it running and at full throttle. This also works great for my string trimmers and chainsaws.

Now that sure is cool! I like the way you think!!
Thanks, I appreciate that. That jaw horse is great idea and had it couple of years now. I used to tune stuff in a bench vise or clapped down to work mate. I tell you its SO MUCH easier tuning a string trimmer and especially a chain saw with that. Few times using the jaw horse and you'll never know how you lived without it. Imo

Nice. It would be hard to hold onto a blower at full tilt.

Today's word is COMPROMISE. I've been happy with HF bench as a whole but taking inspiration from my tool box bracket I made a change. Remember word of today is COMPROMISE. Here's what I did.
I moved the hip roof box up here making room just by rearranging few things.

I moved the bottom shelf few inches down. Here my method for moving shelfves easy.

I made a key from old 3/8 extension.

After all the moving this and that I came up with this. I was able to clear off bench.

So YES the boxes are NOT as easy to access as on bench but that what they made step stools for.
Today's word is COMPROMISE.
Now with stuff off the bench I have bench cleared to work and able to remount a vise or 2.

I havnt picked a vise or placement just yet but it will be either the Shop King or the D44.
I still can cut the shelf down more. I have over 5 in I can cut off.

Gonna use it and see what if any tweaks are needed.

Good work! Have you considered moving the boxes on the shelf out to the edge of the shelf to make them easier to reach? Then you could have a 5 inch area behind them to store long spare material or something? Just an idea...

That's good idea.... Ill think about that and what I could hide behind there. Also thought more vertical work area would be nice by cutting off those 5 inches.

Hard to show through pics but if I cut it down the whole shelf would be less in the way while working which would be a plus. On flip side I really like that edge cause I put my phone, drinks, etc off the bench while working. So I gonna see how it works like this and make a final decision on later date. Thanks for the input its always nice to have other set of eyes looking at something you might not see.

I love this thread! Your garage is truly an inspiration for me as I also have a ton of stuff and just a two car space to put it in. I hear you about compromise, as my whole garage is a compromise. Keep up the good work!

Good job on the "compromise" arrangement for your tool boxes. While I normally hate to give up 5.5" of usable shelf space the pics you show from side views really make it look like the overhang will interfere with bench top work now that you have it open again. But in the end only you can tell for sure.
I too tend to set cell phone, drinks etc somewhere on the bench top and always worry about them being in the way of work. Maybe the solution are some small drink holders or similar that can clamp to the shelf/bench edge and hold these things while keeping them off the work surface. I'm gonna have to look at stuff made for cars and motorcycles etc. Ever seen that done in the garage?
